Default ys61 stII quits in flight

HI,

I was flying my freya with a ys61st2 today. Have not flown it for 6 months. New enya 3 installed. Engine suddenly quit in flight, autoed with minor damage to landing gear and blades. Engine was perfectly tuned and running prior to storage. Post- flight inspection reveals a lot of unburned fuel pouring out from muffler and engine. Diagnosis? Anyone?

Stuck regulator from sitting for six months. Pull the reg and carb oof and clean thoroughly. Might also need a new diaphragm.

Hi Dave,

I cleaned the regulator and replaced with new diaphragm. I started the engine but engine always die when the glow igniter is removed. New Enya 3 installed. I did not fiddle with any of needle settings. Could it be that rear engine bearing needs replacement? This engine was serviced by Rich Verano and he replaced rear engine bearing 1 year ago. Thanks.

Hard to say. Pull the backplate off and see if the rear bearing is rusty. Are you using fresh fuel?

Hi Dave,

I pulled backplate off and rear bearing is rusty. I'm using fuel I bought 6 months ago. Thanks.

If it's rusty it needs fixing before you proceed.
