Hi all
A friend of mine recently bought a slightly used 140 DZ. After being a little fuzzy to start initially, it finally came to life. Ran it a couple of tanks with 15%nitro before we changed fuel to 20% for a little more power.
The engine seemed to work ok, but today it started to act up. It will idle fine, but when you advance the throttle it sounds like it is loading up, and it stops with a bang. Same thing happens regardless of needle settings. We do not have very much experience with the YS engines, so a little help on this one would be most appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Dave.
What I think is weird is that it ran just fine the other day on both 15 and 20 % fuel. It did have more power with the 20, and was swinging a Menz 18X6 wood prop at 8900 rpm.
He is in the process of cleaning the pump/regulator as I type.

I am really sorry if I misread your post, but it seemed to me you were suggesting higher nitro content to solve the problem.
The problem was not the fuel at all. As I see it it is the fuel SUPPLY.

The residue in your pump is probably caused by the fuel you are using. At least when it happens again, you will know where to look.
Good Luck!
