Hi,
I am having problems with my YS110. It runs well at all throttle settings except idle (2500 to 3000 RPM). At this RPM, it runs for about 10 seconds and then quits. It does not speed up or slow down before dying - it just quits. I have leaned and richened the idle mixture and the regulator but can still not get it to work. It was sent in to YS for servicing and had a number of things changed including the piston ring but I am still having the same problem. The fuel system is not leaking as far as I can tell and I have tried 2 new OS Type F glowplugs. The engine is mounted inverted and has never been in a crash. It was running perfectly in the same airplane for 2 years until the past couple of months.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

If it has just been in for service, I would suggest you give Richard a call at 775-782-4562 sometime in the next couple of days. Maybe he can shed some light on your problem.

I am not sure how to start a new thread.......
I am having major problems with my YS100.
It has already been in for service once because the mixture would vary drastically in flight.
Since it is back it will not richen up unless the needle is out several turns.
The first run after it came back from service was with the main at 2.5 turns and ended in about 15 seconds witht the engine going lean and dying.
It just sat there and smoked.
To run at full throttle it has to be very very rich in midrange and out several turns on the main.
The tank pressurizes fine and gives a nice hiss before fueling with fuel squirting strongly from the hose if it is unplugged.
I use Wildcat YS20/20 fuel and an OS type F glow plug.
I have tried every combination of needle valve and diaphragm settings.
It idles great and depending on the regulator/main needle settings will run ok below 1/3 throttle.
Some of the other guys who fly YS helped me clean the regulator and troubleshoot the setup.
I changed the plumbing completely and changed the glow plug but nothing works.
Do you know of anything else to try before sending it in again?
Larry

As I advised the first poster, call Richard as soon as you can and discuss the problem with him.

Hi Dave,
Just wanted to let you know that I talked to Richard and he suggested I try running the engine with the idle mixture only half a turn out. I tried this and it worked! (at least on the ground). Will try flying it this weekend.

My YS110 is back from service.
Service says that they replaced the head gasket and remounted the regulator.
I have to work today but will try it soon.
