Default 91 ac does not seem right on top end

Possibly some one can give me some info on my 91 ac. I received this engine used and have been tring to get it running right for a while. The low end and the transition are set good but the top although it runs ok it appear to put out a lot of smoke(FOG). It is way more than any 2 stroke I run.The compresson seems ok. The Fuel is Wild Cat 20/20, Os f plug. Is this normal . I have nothing to compair it to.

If it is making good horsepower at the top end, what difference does it make if it smokes?
It's likely the fuel you're using.

Dave,
We are dicussing this in two diffrent threads but ok. It seems to be burning more fuel than it is suppose to. And all arround me complain when I start up. Maybe the darn thing needs rebuilding but the cylinder and piston don't appear to have alot of wear. I can still see pronounced cross hone markes in the cylinder wall.
are they suppose to be there?

Does it have good compression when it is hot? If it does, then the issue is with adjustment. I think it's way too rich at the top end.

I am not sure what is good compression and as far as being rich on top end, any leaner will kick the prop. If there is too little compression will this cause it to run rich?

If the engine does NOT have a good hot seal, all kinds of problems will exist. I doubt I can come close to helping you further on this forum. It looks like we need to see the engine in person.
