Default Prop Position

I'm curious, what is the recommended prop position in relation to the position of the piston? Should the prop (2 blade) be at 90 degrees to the piston or in-line (parallel).

Would this also be the same for two strokes?

Thanks
Jeff

Default RE: Prop Position

Personal preference compared to the model.

I prefer to have the prop horizontal when up against compression. If the engine is mounted on its side or inverted this will very the relationship of the piston to prop position to each other.

It really doesn't matter as far as operation of the engine is concerned. I have never had a model engine that really carried. Now sometimes on the really big displacement engines like 3.5cu-in and up there are vibration issues that can be dealt with by aligning the prop in a certain location based on the piston location to help balance things out.

None of the YS engine will see much of a difference on this issues, and running wise I don't think any engine performance wise will benefit.
