Default 1.40FZ trouble

Hi, I've got a 1.40 FZ that's been marvellous for many, many years.
It's been regularly serviced and run on CP 30% heli exclusively.

Problem is it's now, all of a sudden, going sick half way into the flight.
Won't throttle up, bogs down and quits.
Running it warm on the ground, top end feels rich even though it isn't... after some seconds, power drops off, bogs down and dies.

Any quick answers? Piston Ring or O rings going.
Has a new diaphram, gaskets and plug. Checked the valves... everything seem fine
Engine appears very clean, no fuel leaks.
Typical YS gremlins
Anything that comes to mind before I do the "full strip down, replace everything" routine?

Cheers in advance.

How long since the bearings had been replaced?

Last summer.
They feel fine.
P' ring replaced at the same time.
It's been layed of over the winter until a few weeks ago.
Ran fine for 10 flights or so then this.
It's ovbiously something that comes with heat.

I keep re-reading your original post adn keep coming back to a bearing surface heating up. You say the main bearings feel fine, so what about the connecting rod or cam bearings?

Well, finally stripped down the 1.40 and the trouble was obvious.
The bearings, O rings all A OK.
The piston ring VERY worn!
Easily replaced as I had TWO!
Stands to reason that I didn't change it last year.

Never ran a 1.40 to the point of a worn out ring, obviously must have changed 'em long before that point.
The ware out point was approx' 70 gallons[sm=thumbs_up.gif] which is OK by me.
And, absolutely no indications from a hand turn compression test which felt absolutelu perfect.
Anyway, if you have a 1.40FZ...now you know what the symptoms are.

Years of playing with YS motors and there's always something new... and every type is SO different.

Well some more flights in and I've got news... it wasn't the (very) worn P ring.[:@]
Problem is back. Obviously, when I reassembled the engine, I got everything nice and tight and then a couple more flights and somethings worn, blew or leaking.
It's going in for the Change Everything (excluding the new ring) routine.
