Dav keep up the good work,I've inherited a YS 45 side exhaust that the carb was put together improperly, but that has been fixed. I'm using, Omega 15% fuel, 11/6 APC Prop, Mac 40 - 60 size tuned pipe, it's mounted inverted in the plane. The pipe has been tuned to the 11/6 prop. and turns 15,200 RPM when it comes up on the pipe at 4 1/4 turns open on the needle. Open exhaust 14,100 RPM at 1 1/2 turns open on the needle. The pump screw is flush. The tank gets lots of pressure and no leaks. Here's the problem - Settings are very inconsistent from day to day and sometimes flight to flight and the settings remain the same. It starts blubbering at high end I put the glow driver back on and it straightens out. It seems to do this with the pipe or even with open exhaust. I've tried different types of glow plugs and found the ones that worked the best are the ones with idle bars. I've tried adjusting the pump only to find it messes up my low end. I can't close the needle valve more than 4 1/4 turns while it's on the pipe or it's to lean or 1 1/2 open exhaust. It ides perfect. I have no problems if I leave the glow driver attached ... LOL Need some help here. I like the engine it's very strong when it's running, but I get ribbed a lot at the field.
