Default Gaskets

Does anyone know what the material is for the gasket sets? I think I need to replace the gasket around the valve cover but don't really want to get a whole kit and pay $8 shipping for such a small thing. It's a simple enough design that I'm sure I could fabricate it given the right material.

Are there other places to buy the gasket set other than Central, or is it possible to just get that one gasket?

Thanks.

Thanks Jimmy,
He said go ahead and make it. Auto parts store should have material.

Beats buying the set for $12 and shipping it for $8.

Ha ha this was a good experience. This engine really doesn't like leaks! First gasket attempt came out a bit thin and didn't do the job, engine ran incredibly rich.

Replaced with better home made gasket and power is totally back, and then some after a good tappet adjustment.

Seems to make more power with tighter tappet clearance at the cost of a little more vibration. Sounds like it's back to new.
