How can I tell the differences between the different models? I have one but the only thing on it is F-120. Can someone help? I can send a pic in a couple days(have to get my camera back).

thanks, Randy

Hello Dave

I finally got the pics that you need to identify my 120. Can I get some specs on it? Opinion?

Thanks, Randy

Looks like the early F120. Not nearly as much power as the later ones. Try a 15x8 or 16x6 prop.

Hi Guys,
I also have a YS F-120 and would like to know what type it is in order to get the proper spare parts.
can you help me on this?

Thanks
Rainer

120 FS, looks like it hit the ground. Pushrod covers are the same on all 120's

Dave,
What do you mean with "it looks likr it hit the ground?"
Don't get it - it's probably my poor english -well ...

Nevertheless, I want to order a gasket set and a muffler. The muffler shouldn't be a problem but the gaskets are different - aren't they? Which one do I need to order?

Thanks for your help!
Regards
Rainer

From the photo it looks like one of the pushrod covers is bent. Probably just the photo.

You need a YS 0900 gasket set. Try Central Hobbies.

Excuse me for upping this old thread...

I have similar early F-120 with a broken crankcase (large cracks both sides).
Because I have quite huge amount of unused spare parts to the motor (cylinders, pistons, ball bearings...), I'd need unbroken F-120 crankcase.

So is it possible to use for example 120SC crankcase with early F-120 pheripheral? Or some else 120 model's one maybe ?

RE: 120 identification

We can probably match a crankcase for you. Send the broken one to us and we will see about getting you another one.

My friend is a professional aluminium welder so it came to my mind if we should give a try to weld the cracks.
Is it at all worth to try?

I may of course send this one to you, but mail already costs quite a bit from Finland to US and back. And takes at least a couple of weeks...
But if you may have suitable and favourable used/new crankcases, I'll mail this broken one to you ofcourse.

RE: 120 identification

The welding will distort the case and it will become unusable. Believe me, I have tried this before and it never works.
We have parts for the engine, but need to know exactly what you have before we can replace it.

RE: 120 identification

Ok, I believe you.

I'll mail this to you. It indeed takes about two weeks and of course there are couple of customs too.
Let's hope it arrives.

Thanks.

Dave, i´m bying one used engine that is the same "F-120", how less powerfull it is comparing to one ys 120FZ ?
I mean turning a 16x6 prop, what´s the RPM diference betwen the two engines?

Thanks very much.

Jose Roberto.

Close to 1000 rpm difference.

RE: 120 identification

I decided after all that it's just too expensive to mail the broken crankcase, discussed earlier in the thread, to you.
But can utilize F-120 spare parts maybe in some other newer YS model ?

Cylinder, piston, bearings for example? I have 3 new pieces of them all...

If not, I just must try to find used F-120 one.

RE: 120 identification

None of the parts are compatible with any current engine.

RE: 120 identification

Dave, is there any power diference betwen the 120 nc and 120 fz ?
Is the weight the same?
What RPMs is recomended for each one?

Tank you very much.

Jose Roberto.

Hi Dave,
can you check if i can replace F-120 (old engine) regulator with a new style ( teflon membrane) one ?

Thank,
Dino

RE: 120 identification

The regulators on all the 120's are the same. YS part number 0730 for the diaphragm.

Dave, do you work for YS?

If so, please, answer my question?

How about these F-120 spares to other newer 120 models?

Dave Shadel 04-11-2005 08:52 PM

RE: 120 identification

Many parts are the same. The diaphragms are the same in all the 120's that YS ever made.
Obviously I can't list all the parts which interchange between all the models, but there are quite a few. Can you be more specific?
