Default RCS 140 Bearings or Bushings ???

I was getting ready to order a RCS 140 and heard a rumor that the con rods have bushings instead of bearings. If this is true are they holding up OK ??

Default RCS 140 Bearings or Bushings ???

Hi DonM,

The RCS 140 was reviewed in the December, 2000 issue of Model Airplane News. The second page of this review, page 85, has an enlarged view of the connecting rod. This view of the connecting rod shows a bronze bushing in the upper end, and a needle bearing in the lower end.

Time will tell how the upper end bushings hold up.

Don, The RCS 140 has not had a single failure due to bushing failure. In stock.
Thanks,

Hmm...

I know it's not an automobile, but...

When you drive down the road do you worry about the bushing surfaces under the hood of your car?
Most of them are bushing surfaces on the crank, rod, and connecting pin. I don't know of any that use roller bearings.

Bushings, when correctly designed and gapped, will last for a very long time.
They are used in many types of 2 and 4 cycle engines and last for many years. Often, a bushing will outlast a roller bearing.

Not an issue. If you are skeptical, we offer a 30 month warranty. I have not seen a failure with the bushed end, or the roller end either for that matter.
Thanks,
