Default ZDZ 40 Ignition Battery Question

RCS web page recomends a 4.8 to 6.5 volt battery for the ignition module. Is a standard 5 cell battery ok, even thought it goes higher than 6.5 volts when fully charged? Also does it matter whether it is a Nicad or NiMH? Thanks.

Default RE: ZDZ 40 Ignition Battery Question

if you are using a Falkon ignition you cannot input more than 6.7v. If it is a new ZDZ ignition serial # 1511 and higher you may input up to 9v. If it is a RCS brand you cannot input more than 6.5v.
Thanks,
