Yes I just bought one and the kit looks very well made (I haven;t started to assemble it yet.) I know someone who had one of these and liked it - he now has an Extreme Flight 58" Extra, which is beautifully made.

Just ordered mine. Got the combo with ESC and Motor. Bought (4) HS-65's from them too. Now I am wondering if I will be able to use my existing 3S 20C 2200mah Lipos or if I need to buy some 4S's.. If so I will need a new charger as mine is just the E-Flight 3S charger..

I've got about 20 flight on mine. It is my first electric. I have been flying 20 years. It is not a 3D monster but a very good aerobatic plane. It does great IMAAC style manuvers is easy to knife edge and is stable in the wind we have here in OK. If there is a weak spot it's the gear. Being my first electric I have banged a few landings. The alum gear bent easy and snapped when I tried to straighten it. Not all the planes fault as I said I banged the landing. Maybe all electrics have this type of gear for the sake of weight. Some of the hardware was junk but I expect this on most ARFs.

Overall I would give it 7.5 of 10.

For me the EF Yak is only so so ... I say this in comparison with the EF Extra 300. My own experience says that the Extra 300 is a much nicer plane to fly. It handles better esp for IMAC flying. The build is nice, quality of the plane is good for sure. Yeah some some the hardware can be better but they work fine. UC is thin and will bend easily if you are not gentle, its not for abuse.

Any significance to your use of the past tense ????

I was messing around low, not too low though. Just enough to not have enough elevator to pull out. I just went to low rates about 15 seconds earlier and forgot that I did. Pancaked her right on the runway. Good flying plane. Wish I didn't toast it up. Didn't really have it long enough to 3D it really good though. I've read it's not a 3D monster, but the videos on their website show differently. I don't really remember see any real slow stuff though. I'll get some pics up in a little bit.

Mine has shipped today. I am going to try my 3S lipos to start with and although I don't think I will have unlimited vertical I hope it will do IMAC style maneuvers. I hover with my helicopter. If need be I will get some 4S batteries. Is there anyone that has flown this plane with the recommended Torque motor and 3S Lipos that can tell me how much power it had?

Mine should be here on the 22nd, can't wait. I got a scorpion motor for it and going to try it with 3s lipos. I'm in Hawaii now and can't wait to get home. I'll post pics and the progress on the Yak.

Mine just arrived. Looks great but they forgot the ESC. Either that or they are out of stock. Sent them an email and will start building in the mean time.. Here is a very old and yet still active thread on this plane since RCU doesnt have much on it. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=579706

I'm planning on putting a Scorpion 3020-12 in mine (I already bought it for a DWFoamies 55" YAK that I did not end up buying) - looks like it's good for about 600 watts on 3S with a 13x8, or 800 watts on a 4S with a smaller prop. I already got the surprisingly-expensive HS-65MG's that are recommended by scouring Ebay for suitable auctions. Not sure about the ESC yet - I have been using Mystery 80A ESC's with no problems.

I'm going with the scorpion 3020-16 (it supposed to be equivalent to the recommended Torque motor). I have a 22 series from scorpion (had on my EF Parkmaster 3D and DW Yak foamie) and that is a great motor[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]. I am also going with a 40A esc and trying a 11x8 and 12x8 apc E prop with HS65hb servos topped with a spektrum 6100 receiver.

I am using the recommended motor and 3S pack. It will hover about 70% throttle. I think I have to much prop with the 13X8. Have not tried the 13x7 yet. This combo is plenty strong but I only get 5-6 minutes of flight. It only sees full power 5% of the time. the rest is half or less. I really thought I would get better flight times, but this is my first electric. I may be expecting to much.

I will be happy with 5-6 minute flights if I can get away with my 3S Lipos I already have. My e-Flight Taylorcraft will probably fly up to 15 min but it has a smaller motor..

I'm using a Scorpion 3020-14, 14-7 prop on mine. I get about 6 min flights, plenty of power to hover on TP 2200 ext v2 3-cell batts.

If it is the 2814/820... you could go as high as a 14x7 on 3s...but watch your amps as that is pushing a 2100 class pack hard (not sure what battery you are using) with the 820 on 3s, a 2500 or 2600mAH pack is better....
If you are running only a 2100 or so battery, that would explain the short flight times....

but.. to really make the 820 come alive in the Yak ....run it on 4 cells... with a 12x6 prop
a 4 cell 2170, 2070 or similar and a 12x6 prop is a FUN setup for the Yak!
and you get 8 or 9 minutes of flight

I also have a Turnogy SK 35-48 motor (800 watts, 900kv) waiting to be used, so I will be choosing between this, a Power 32 and the Scorpion 3020-12 for this Yak, for an E-Flite Eratix (Xmas present!), and an E-Flite Ultra Stick 25e, so I have my ARF building cut out for me for a while! The Eratix will get one of the two lighter motors, and the Power 32 will go into the Stick.

Anyone have any opinions about Turnigy SK motors?

My battery packs are 2170s. I have been told before to go to a 4S and a smaller prop. I am sure that's sound advice but I have $160 in these two packs. If I had another electric I could use them in I would not mind buying a couple more packs. Right now I need to invest in a better charger. It takes almost an hour to charge each pack with what I have. Maybe Santa will bring me a Triton.

I think you can only charge Lipos so fast.. Around 2 amps or something like that but don't quote me.. I know what you mean about batteries; they are expensive. If I have to go to 4S I will get some cheap ones from Hobby City. They have good reviews as well as being cheap. http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...0C_Lipoly_Pack

I am at a stand still right now with my build. She is all together but I am waiting on an ESC from ExtremeFlight, I need to run get some servo extensions at the LHS, and there were no sufficient screws included to mount the motor? I'll take the motor to Home Depot and find some that will work.

I agree that Hobbycity has some excellent deals, and I've used their Rhino batteries myself.

In terms of charging a lipo, for longevity you are supposed to charge them at 1C, which basically means that it's going to take about an hour to fully charge. (In case you don't know, 1C means, it is equal to 1 times the number of amp-hours in your battery, e.g. if you have a 2100mah battery (=2.1 amp-hours), you can charge it starting at 2.1 amps. As the battery voltage increases, the current will drop, and your charger will also vary the charge to each cell to keep them balanced. So, assuming that the battery is not completely discharged, it takes a good hour before it's all done.)

Hope this helps, and please excuse me if you already know all this...Chris
