Hello Dan,
Yes, the plane can be converted to a tail dragger and then you can use the DLE35RA. or you can modify the nose gear and mount it from the rear of the firewall and this will make room for the rear mounted muffler.
Please feel call me if you have more questions
Thank you
Rocco

Well, my trainer arrived last week and I have to say I’m impressed with everything about this ARF. I decided to go with a Zenoah G26 instead of the DLE I had to cut the cowl for the carburetor but that’s OK by me plenty power for this bird. The maiden flight went very well today. Aero-works you did good on this one.

Planejaw I just flew mine for the first time yesterday with a dle 20 crosswinds were high but took off and flew fine.I noticed the rollout was longer than what im used to.So I programed in flapperons my question is did you mix in any down elevater as well.....thanks...Larry
I didn't mix in any down-elevator with flaps. Found that with much more than a few degrees of flapperons, you really need to use the rudder to make directional corrections on final and to help level the wings. I'll have to experiment more with it this season. I'm sure hoping Aero-Works comes up with a flap version and then we can retro-fit the new wings on our ships.

Once you learn how to slow the GT down on approach, you can land at close to walking pace without flaps... Mine slows down just fine with the DLE 30 and an 18x10 prop. A guy at my field did one electric and added flaps, mine w/o flaps lands just as slow if not slower. I still wish it had flaps though but more for a dive break when towing gliders.

Rocco, we just got the Great Planes Escapade in for review.
It has the full length ailerons like the GT but there's another servo bay and the flap is connected to the aileron by two wood pins. Cut the pins and install the servo and you have flaps, leave them be and you have ailerons.
Something like that would be perfect.

Planejaw thanks for the info here are a few pictures of my gt with fults nose gear and 4.5" tires and a link to some flying video looking at the nose wheel. The dle 20 is plenty powerfull for this plane it has enough power when inverted to hold down elevator and bring the plane back upright.Vertical climb rate is very good not unlimited but very good.Weighs in at 12.5lbs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HSweXhp_cg

This plane does not need flaps. I fly mine with a DLE 30 with a 19x10 prop. It takes off in 10-15' depending on wind. The only thing this plane needs is a better nose gear. It is a little flimsy and wants to nose over. No fancy stuff needed, I am using a LIFE 2500 mah pack and HRC 645 servos. Keep it simple.

Do you need the extra weight of the G26 to help it to balance? The G26 is a good deal heavier than something like the DLE20 .or the DLE 30 .. I have both engines and they both run great. The G26 is nice because it dosen't need an extra battery pack. I do like that but I think the DLE 20 is my favorite because of the power it puts out for it's size . I don't really mind charging a battery for it as I need to charge batteries anyway . I have the G 26 on my H9 Taylor Craft and it balances it perfectly and has the right amount of power . I have A DLE 30 on a scratch built Spit and it has just enough power to fly it .
