Larger Revolver

Too fast ? Yeah......I hear Ya. If I feel the need for speed I'll fly my electric powered EFlite Habu 32. Never did a serious MPH test on her, but she's gotta be doin' 125+ in a dive !
I have both the .60 size Revolver and the Great Planes .60 size Escapade in my stable. The .60 size Revolver is definitely happier with speed and the Escapade is happier with slower 3D maneuvers. It all depends on your flying style.
I've been in the market for another 80"+ plane for a while. Had it narrowed down to either the Great Planes 84" Reactor or the 50cc size Great Planes Revolver. I looked at other planes but I'm also looking into cashing in my Tower gift certificates.
After reading most of the 50cc Revolver and 50cc Reactor threads (an awful lot of reading), I decided on the Reactor.
From what I've read, the 50cc Revolver is more of a pattern plane while the 50cc Reactor is a lot more of a 3D plane.
I ordered the Reactor yesterday and will power it with a DLE 55.

Im not a big fan of the 50cc Revolver. I thought i would be, but it just looks kinda ugly to me. Maybe the color scheme?
As for the 120ax, ive seen videos and looks like they fly great. But, the sound, torque and fuel economy of the DLE is what makes me love the engine. Not to mention the sleeker look of the cowl. Just a little bit of the cylinder head and the muffler pipe sticking out the bottom. Looks as clean as it can get aside from E power...
I would get damn tired of paying the price of glow fuel for a 120 quick. Only burning glow in my little P51 suits me just fine haha! Actually, ive considered ditching glow all together and getting a 15cc gasser for it too! I love the ease of starting them (i hand start my planes).

Just got my DLE 20 RA -- very nice looking piece of equipment, and the initial trial fit seems that it will fit with the supplied motor mount just perfectly with plenty of clearance for the rear muffler. I am now getting parts for the fuel side of things -- stopper, line filters etc. Any links to parts such as in line fuel filters and other bits would be great.

Ive pretty much used every type if fuel filter and none have kept my carb screens clean....theese have http://www.ebay.com/itm/125-527-Lot-...item27d4bc0d3b these filter a finer material that the screen or filter paper type filters cant stop
i highly recomend these switches http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...itch&search=Go over the the other switch ...this one has it all
and for a tank i recommend a soda/water bottle style tank.... i buy my fittings at centralhobbies.com i used to replace my gas stoppers almost on a yearly basis..it was also a pain in the butt removing the soldered on barbs from the copper tubing https://images.search.yahoo.com/imag...a&fr=yfp-t-745

It looks about the same as you'res although I suspect yours might be more effective, either way they got super high ratings and there is a claim that even on an empty tank
you could still fly for up to two or three minutes because of the way these wick up the fuel, (every drop is used up)
I my self will be using those in combination with the screen filter, because I'm thinking that in a two line tank, as I will be doing,
if your fuel has junk, it will be getting into your tanks fuel line and that filter/clunk will block it from getting into your fuel tank but there is a chance
it can still travel back up your line into the carb anyway. I'm not taking chances. I'm even considering a dedicated fill line to be honest although
every thing I read and see in vids advocates just using a two line system with a "T"
I'm putting one of those filter/clunks into my main storage tank as well since they come in pairs. I doubt this amount of over kill will hurt lol.

I run a 3 line system. For the vent and fill lines in the tank, i use short metal tubing as to give the pickup line plenty of room to "clunk" around in the tank. I think the 3 line system has a clean look.
Question...Anyone running a 2 line system ever experience flooding your carb with fuel when filling up the tank? Seems like thats a possibility.

Huh? The check valve I was refering to is internal to the carb. There's no external check valve in a 2 line system. My point was regarding your question asking if a 2 line system might flood the carb when filling? The answer is no, not possible due to carb design. The internal check valve prevents that possibility?

I'm seriously considering a three line system to be honest, if for no other reason than to make sure that I get clean fuel into my tank in the first place.
I'll have either one of those metal clunk filters in my main fueling bottle plus that fiber clunk/fuel filter in my airplane tank and an inline filter.
I prefer the three line idea, because the way i see it if some how something gets into my fuel, on a two line system it still gets stuck in my fuel line.
It won't get into my planes fuel tank because the fiber clunk/fuel filter will block it, and there is a possibility that it won't make it to the carb because of the inline fuel filter.
However if its very small it will get past the inline filter but not the fiber clunk/filter.
In the three line idea it can go from my fuel can into my fuel tank but that's it. It can not get past the fiber filter/clunk so it never gets into my carb at all since that line will be clear
if for no other reason than the fiber filter/clunk.
has anyone fiber-glassed their tail feathers? I read somewhere in here that someones stab broke off in flight. I'm thinking since I'm over powering the plane I probably should.

I do like the looks of those clunk/filter units. I may have to try those on my next build. So far I've had good luck with my inline filters. Anytime I've checked the filter inside my carb, it's been totally free of junk.

Been working on my new Revolver for a week or so taking my time making some changes. Today I was to install my gear, I bolted on one side and when I started to put the other gear leg in position I discovered I had two right gear legs. Not a big deal, but now I have to go through all the motions to get the correct leg and that could take some time. I had planned on firing up that DLE20 and getting this bad boy in the air..

motor12, sorry to hear about the bad luck. Have you checked to see if they have them in stock?
Regarding the fuel systems, I go with the KISS logic? An engine that's starving for fuel not that hard to spot here. When/if that happens (not very often) I know about where to look for the trouble - which is the built in crap trap within the carb? To each their own, but I've found minimizing connections much more productive in minimizing fuel trouble on my own stuff. I do not run an onboard filter, in the tank or anywhere else. I filter it on the filler line used to connect the pump to the plane. That's me though, FWIW, -Al

When you get the new one, just keep it for a rainy day. If i ever happen to need some main gear, ill know who to ask...
