RE: painting over a covering
I think its monacoat it was painted from the factory. its a CMPRO ARF. And I want to put a clear coat on it since it chips off pretty easy.

Sand the paint with 400 to 600 grit wet sand paper lightly and then if your going to start over prime and paint it. If all you want to do is clear coat it do the same thing and instead of priming and painting just clear coat it. If it has decals, cover them with masking tape when sanding. The dullness from sanding will go away once the clear is added. Good Luck.

you can also use fine steel wool st scuff the surface as long as there is a dull surface for the paint to grab onto you will be fine.
there several clear coats to use lustre coat from top flight is made to stick to covering, but even water based polyurathane will work as long as the surface has been dulled

if you are going to put clearcoat over paint then i dont see why not, if you are going to sand, repaint and then use clearcote then you need to sand, lol
