Am also interested, the weight of 109 grams (3.84 oz) with that kind of output (770watts) is very interesting. I just bought and received a scorpion motor, 30/20- 14 with 800 watt output but weighs 5.39 oz. My watt meeter says output is 795 watts, on a 3 cell 20-30 C Zippy battery, close enough for my uses. In actual use in a Hyperion 25 E, the vertical is great, motor stays reasonably cool, 55 amp controller is loafing, 1800 mah battery flys 15-18 minutes. With the flood of new motors for sale, I am begilnning to wonder how many actual factorys there are out there producing them. 3D hobby shop recommended a new motor called "Thrust " for their Katana MD. I had a slightly smaller AXI that I tried first, just not enough power for 3D. Rather than keep buying motors, I tried the Thrust and was plesently supprised at the quality and power. Have not heard much about them since. One down side to the Thrust is the one way mounting system it has where it mounts to a cage and the motor sits inside the mount system with the output shaft in front of the mounting plate. Anyway, think you will have to purchase the motor and try it yourself to really know whats what. If its in the $100.00 range, its flat too pricy. The Scorpion was $56.00 with good quality and power. Looking forward to the guys comments on the Aeolian motor.

As I mentioned elsewhere, I think you have a snowball's chance in hell of pushing anywhere near 770W through this el cheapo motor without turning it into an immersion heater!

Dr. Phil,
I know you have a good understanding of how these electric's work. And I understand things bought on E-Bay are not always what they seem. My Modeltech ME-109 will weigh about 3.5 lbs when built. I was told to get good performace I should look for a motor that would produce around 400watts of power. When I came across this Aeolian KV910 the specs said it produces 770watts of power. So I thougth maybe someone here on RC Universe may have used one.
From the spec's what should my setup be to get the best perfomace from this motor? I have a 80amp ESC I plan to use with this motor. If this motor won't do the job I'll look else where.
Thanks for you help and knowledge with this.

Hay guy's take a look at this motor. The spec's look very close to the Aeolian 910kv motor. I believe these spec are much more to what the Aeolian 910kv will be. The weight of the motor is only 6 grams more than the Aeolian motor and that is probably due to the mounting gear.

RE: Aeolian 910KV Motor
This appears to be a rating game. The weight is for the motor only, namely everything has been removed, mounting, prop mount, etc. It is a bogus weight. The 770 watt rating is even more then 15 volts times 50 amps (750 watts) so it is beyond the maximum overload. The normal maximum power may be about 40 amps times 12 volts = 480 watts.
It might be 98% efficient at some RPM and load but the normal efficiency would be way less.
You get what you pay for, namely a 450 watt (or smaller) motor.

RE: Aeolian 910KV Motor
A 400watt motor is what I was looking for when I cam across the Aeolian 910KV. I know 770amps was to ggod to be ture for a motor that weighed only 109grams, but I thought maybe someone would know for sure. I believe the Aeolian 910kv is the same motor as the Turnigy SK 35-36. If it dos produce only 450watts it will still be enough for my Modeltech ME-109. The Modeltech ME-109 will weigh in around 3.5klbs. That will be more that 100watts per pound and I understand that is good power for a scale plane.

RE: Aeolian 910KV Motor
Just look at the specs, you will probably run 11 volts (3S LiPo) and the continuous current is 40 amps, 11 * 40 = 440 watts.
I looked at the listing and for the money you get a reasonable motor and 80 amp ESC. It looks pretty good to me but I have only looked at the pictures. So far I have not seen any topics saying - ESC sucks and they seem to sell alot of them.
However when I put 24 volts on my 18 volt ESC it released the smoke.

I thank you for the information. I am new to electic's as you can tell. What size prop would be the best to produce 400watts of power. I was thinking about using a 10x7 prop with a 3s 2200 lipo and the 80amp esc. I can use a 4s lipo if that is what I will need to get 400watts

RE: Aeolian 910KV Motor
We'll I tested this Aeolian 910 motor this weekend and it is a goof little motor, but nowhere near what the spec's off of E-bay said. I have a Water meter now and here is waht I got using a APC 11x8 prop with a 2200mah lipo battery. I am using a Skyshark 40amp esc. The motor turned out 33amps at 12v producing 360 watts. Good enough power for what I need.
My Modeltech ME-109 game out to just 2lbs 12oz with this motor and battery setup. I hope to get 7 or 8 minute flights with it. I my go to a 14.8v 3cell lipo later if I think I need the extra wattage.

RE: Aeolian 910KV Motor
Test flew the ME-109 with the Aeolian 910kv motor yesterday. I used 2200mah lipo batteries with a APC 11x8 prop and a 40amp esc w/bec. The motor produces 360 watts with this setup and the plane flew very well. Not a rocket, but more than enough power for scale type flights. Nice rolls and very large loops. The motor and battery was just a little warn to the touch. I was able to get 7 minute flights with this setup. For the money I am very please and I my just type a 14.8 2350mah battery I have coming.

RE: Aeolian 910KV Motor
I just got my order in last Friday of 2 - 2350mah 14.8 lipo's from HC. I went home with them and tested them Saturday on my Aeolian 910kv motor. I have a 60amp esc on it know so I fired it up using the APC 11x7 prop I already had on the ME-109. It put out 585watts of power. [:@] I only had it here for about 5 seconds if that long. Believing this is really a Turnigy SK-3636 motor rated at 470watts I changed the prop to a APC 9x7.5. I fired the Aeolian 910kv up again and this time I hit 470watts right on the noise.
I will keep this configuration on my Modeltech ME-109 and with the bigger battery I weighed the plane again and it is still under 3lbs(2lbs 14oz). I will have 150watts per lb on the plane and I hope to test fly it this Wednesday. I'll let you all know how it went.

RE: Aeolian 910KV Motor
Hi: I wanted to add my 2 cents to anyone that will listen! In a nutshell; Stare clear of these cheap, garbage motors. I know that not all are created equal. I have a 500kv that is supposed to be a .90 nitro equivilent. I bought it from e-bay, waited 6 weeks to get it. Filed conplaints with everyone, they refused to refund the money even though they SAID it was lost (twice). It did fiinally show up on my door step. THREE FLIGHTS and the magnets slipped and trashed the motor. So, under warrenty (from China) they refused to send me a replacement because it was "my fault." They finally agreed to SELL me a replacement at cost. So I bought the replacement. I have never crashed the plane or had so much as prop strike. Today, after about the 9th flight, the motor seized on take off. Yep, the magnets came loose. If you have one of these , do yourself a favor and reglue the magnets. If you don't have one...DON"T BUY ONE. Garbage like this needs to self destruct. Thanks Davis
PS: I am NOT going to try to get another one even though this one is STILL under warrenty. The plane means more to me then 20 bucks.

RE: Aeolian 910KV Motor
I hate to say it but the old saying.
"you get what you pay for " is true more often than not.
I also bought a motor off of ebay that was claiming 800watts continous.
Total crap, runs 350watts ok, over 400-500+watts and it starts to heat up
to the point where you can not hold it, spit sizzles! Yes I spit on it.
I ran the specified battery voltages and prop combinations per the manufactures spec.
For the price of it as a 350w motor, not a bad price, just not as advertized
and a bit heavy for a real 350watt motor, ~3oz verses 6+oz.
Bottom line if the price is to good to be true be leary.
There are deals out there just have to find the right ones.
Buyer beware!

I have been using two Aeolian 3542 - 1450kv for quite a while and found them reliable and very efficient. They are both spinning a three blade 10 x 7 prop, with a static thrust of 3200 grams. I use them on different ground effect models weighing up to 4.5 kg and taking off from water, so the motors work fairly hard.
