Pattern Plane Identification
I'm hoping someone here can help me identify this plane or at least steer me to the right forum to ask this question. The plane was given to me by a friend. He salvaged it from an old barn and we have no idea how long it was there. I love older aircraft and I would really like to restore this plane to it's former glory.
I need to do some research on engine size, CG, etc..., however, I have absolutely no idea what it is. It's missing the belly pan (or whatever it's called on this type of plane) and I'm guessing I'll have to fabricate one, so if anyone has any pictures of this plane (complete) it would really help.
If it will help, here are some general measurements:
Wingspan: 65"
Length: 62.5" (From firewall to the end of the rudder)
Wing Chord: 17"
It has a fiberglass fuse. The wing is foam core, sheeted and covered.
Thanks!

RE: Pattern Plane Identification
Thanks for the input.
Any idea who the manufacturers are/were for the Atlanta or the Conquest? I've been searching like crazy and haven't found one relevant link!

I belive the Atlanta was sold through Golden Gate Hobbies (Long gone), the company that made them had a funny name, can't remember it though. Zig somthing? I think Phillips Aircraft made some of the Conquests (also long gone). Precision Aero Composites still has the Conquest 7 listed on the web site.

I dont know what the model is but I can tell you that it is not an Atlanta. I still have one hanging from the wall which I campainged in the late 80's.

RE: Pattern Plane Identification
It looks a bit like an Aurora, but could just as well be a Conquest ( from Carl Goldberg, btw). The original Aurora was wood with a glass belly pan, but maybe there were glass clones around under a different name, just like there were of the Arrow, Magic, etc.
Post the pics in the "classic pattern" subforum, and you may have more success there.

Wonder if AMA could put you in contact with the owner of the AMA number seen in Pic#2? That person surely could identify it for you.
In pic#6 that looks like a YS check valve connected to the taller of the two fuel lines. Judging by the aircraft demisions and relative era of the model it may have been powered by a YS 2-stroke.
Best of luck with your restoration.

Send Dave Patrick an email, he designed the Conquests so he should know. I had a Conquest 120 that was exactly like that but it's too small. I'm positive it's a Conquest, just don't know which one.

RE: Pattern Plane Identification
Thanks again to everyone that has given me feedback on this. On Gregg G's suggestion, I contacted Dave Patrick and he confirmed that it is definitely a Conquest. He believes it's a Conquest IV.
I've done business with Dave Patrick Models before and my experience with them today will ensure my continued patronage! I real person answered the phone after just a couple rings and in a matter seconds I was talking to the man himself. Super nice guy and very helpful. That's customer service on a level that's difficult to find these days.
I think I'll post something in the Classic sub-forum to see if anyone has any pictures I can work from. Thanks again.

ORIGINAL: Gregg G
Go to the for sale section under pattern planes and you'll find your Conquest.
