I'm sure AJ design is solid, with the right scheme I would eventually get one, but let not discount the Pilot ��*✈️ ....I think Jason would look good and competitive flying pretty much anything with wings.....

Which equipments are there in Jason's plane as servo ?
I suppose motor is AJ5230-20P/205KV 12S which price is 259.99 $ and batteries lipo 2 x TP 5000 mAh.

It seems odd that the 205Kv motor is described as '12s' but in the description it states that AJ flies it on 10s
AJ flies this airframe with the following equipment:

• Power by AJ Aircraft AJ5230-20P/205KV 12S
• Jeti Mezon 90HV Lite
• Falcon 20x13 prop
• (2) x Thunder Power 5s 5000mah LiPo
• Futaba BLS171 servos on Ailerons/Rudder
• Futaba BLS173 servos on Elevator

Just out of curiosity, is it even allowed to fly something other than 10s in competition?

The answer is no. However that does not mean the model has not been flown on 12S, mine has a 12S capable ESC, just 'gotta pickup the motor....

Some folks are working to try and have the rules changed about only being able to run 10S batteries in FAI which is supposed to be there for safety. But they have no problem running 12S in the helicopters. The model fly's the current sequences easier with the 12S setup as I think most models would and 5S cells are getting really hard to find these days. I believe the Euro guys, are getting increasingly scared of the electric competition.

It is completely OK to fly with other than 10 S setups in a FAI pattern competition. It is not the number of cells but maximum voltage which is limited. If you are using normal LiPo batteries with 4.20 V max voltage, it translates to 10 cells max (with some margin). If you use another battery chemistry, you may be limited to 9S (for HV Lipo with 4.35 V) or could use more cells in series. A very light plane could even do with an 8S setup but in practice, it is conventional LiPo and 10S. A quote from FAI Sporting Code: "Electric powered model aircraft are limited to a maximum of 42.56 volts for the propulsion circuit, measured off load, and prior to flight while the competitor is in the ready box."

I have not found 5S packs to be hard to find. There are loads of them available in the range of 4400 - 5000 mAh which are suitable for a 2 m pattern plane with 10S system. Here in Europe, internal combustion engines seem to be getting rare in pattern competitions. For example in recent F3A World Cup competitions the number of glow powered planes has been less than 10%.

To comment a bit to the original topic: The Acuity looks very good to me. I hope to see some of them fly in the Worlds in Argentina.

Obviously Adrian, I've been fly FAI/F3A pattern since 2007, like yourself. My question was directed at the Acuity specifically, does the Acuity have a servo bay to support a rear servo installation similar to others, like BJ Craft has for example.

That's all I was asking....

You can mount the rudder servo in the tail along the fuse side of it can be mounted up front and use pull pull. Jason had his setup as pull pull at the Nats.

Sorry for not getting on here sooner but I have been traveling for work. The reason this motor is called a 12s motor is actually for our 73" Laser. We fly that on a 20x10 with 12s 3300's. For the 2m acuity it is flown with the popular 20-21" props for F3A. The 205 KV gives you room to work with prop selection depending on your flying style.

The rudder servo can be mounted either in the tail with push pull or up front using Pull Pull.

How well does the 2M Acuity fly with the Hacker A60?

Go with Andrews Recommend setup or go with the Himax 210. The A60 is a nice motor (28 pole) but it's not quite enough unless you fly it on 12S. It would be ok through intermediate.

Also, the 28 pole Hackers do not play nicely with any ESC except Jeti. I like those ESC's and it's mostly what you'll see in AJ's stuff but those guys also have their own line of motors now that seem to be working out really well. Maybe you might want to check out that option? Sorry, I don't know anything more about them but you could call AJ Aircraft or maybe PM Andrew?

Myself and a friend both have the 2M Acuity running the Himax motor with a 10S configuration and it's a great combination.

I also fly mine with a Himax 6330-210 Pro w/ Falcon 3-blade prop. Set for a max of 78 amps on a CC 80hv ESC and has unlimited of vertical.

Finally got around to getting the Acuity. Arrived last week. Will equip with the Himax 210, Jeti esc and Hyperion servos. Have not decided on the prop. Looks like a pretty straightforward build. My only question is CG, please post some starting ranges.

Mine is at the other house so I cannot go look, but if you'll check the Acuity thread in the F3A forum at RC Groups, Andrew has answered a number of questions about the model one of which is CG location. He posted some pics of where it's at and it is picked up with the hatch off at the CG line. IIRC, it's 1/2" behind the former which crosses the fuselage above the wing tube.
