Yup, that sums it up pretty well, it is good for a beginner, I had never flown one before, It is pretty docile on the low rates, but you do have to keep it moving! Also, pay attention to it 'cause it does shift some when you bring it down out of a climb!

me and my dad just finished it. insestead of putting the supplied decals we are going to spray paint it using styro military grey colour and in black lettering put USAF on. and we use bamboo wooden spikey things at the end of the main wing and the vertical fin. in real life i think they are smoke streamers or sidewinder missiles. and i love you video guilly!

Has anyone tried a 4 cell Lipo with this jet set up stock? If so how did it handle it?

I wouldn't advise using 4s with the stock motor.I know others have tried some worked a few runs but all have gone up in smoke or melted fan housing and burned the motor. A successful 4s set up is jet screamer motor with a 3 or 5 blade alfa fan or the sf fan supplied with this kit. The jet screamer is a direct fit into the sf fan available at hobby lobby. Using the alfa fan with the five blades expect this f-16 to go well over 100mph and unlimited vertical[X(] also need a 20 to 30c lipo able to handle about 30amps draw 2000mah to 2200mah should work fine. Oh one other thing close off the cheater holes on the sides of the plane. It will sound more like a turbine(real jet)......Tim

I just flew mine yesterday. Extremely fast for a park flyer. To clean up air flow to the fan, I used a yogurt cup cut to shape to ramp air into the fan unit smoother. Channeled the foam to sink the wires/esc into the foam, then put packing taped over the wires to have minimal disturbance to airflow. Also sanded the front intake opening larger and put a glass cap on it instead of the large radius vac form cap they give you.

Extended the clear tail cone to end of "scale" black tail cone using packing tape.

I may modify the fuse LE strakes and make them sharper.

Assembled it 90% with 3M bodyless tape and repainted it greys. Batt, thunder power 3s, 15C, 11.1V, 2100ma. 19.2 oz. flying. Will add missels next. I'll tape off the cheaters and try it.. Thanks

A great part of ducted fan performance comes from a good power unit, but in partner with great airflow from entry to exit.

Not bad for around $200.

Hi there,

I just built mine stock and I am planning on building another one just for the fun of it. I want to follow up with you on your comment regarding the VASA Fan and the Jet screamer motor for a hopup. What Vasa fan and Motor are you saying is the best setup?

Thanks in advance!

Newman

Here's mine with a few mod's. Took off the paper covering on wings and the did the whole jet in 1/2 oz glass with water based polyurethane it comes in at 20 oz without battery. Have 2-6 inch C/F rods in each wing going into the fuselage. Tail rods were covered with 1/8 lite ply and a rudder was added. I also have the wings setup for aileron's so if I want to add 2 more servo's down the road. Running the XF fan with the 5100 Kv 8XL motor on 4/S 2200 25C Air Thunder pack 40 amp ESC and 5/6v 3A UBEC. I am pulling about 30 amp's with 430+ watts and top speed is well over 100+mph. But now that I have about 50 or so flights on it it's getting too slow for me. I am thinking of re-powering it with a 480 fan with a 700 watt 2W-20 motor and 5/S pack. Damm!!!!! the need for speed has got me once more
Keep em flying

Just maidened my plane Sunday, flies GREAT! It's my first jet and it flies on rails and feels locked in, and FAST too! Only problem is when I came in for a nose up landing, the front end of the elevators struck the ground and ripped off, but I glued them back and it's all good. I'm also afraid that I'm overloading the cheap, Parkzone Typhoon battery I'm using, it's max discharge rate is 12C (27 Amps), it was pretty warm when I was done flying but then again I never did drill that hole in the cockpit like the instructions said, I'll be sure to do that.

Here is my stock EF-16. I covered it in vinyl. It's a grand total of 22 oz with the battery. Flys like it's on rails.

I had a smoke system on my EF-16 today. It's called the stock speed controller. I'm now running a castle 35.

Good video, I have the Kyosho F16. Wondering if this can get through a decent roll with the full Horizontal stab control. In the video, flew nice, but not loops or rolls.

Hi All, I had the first flight on EF16 today and after a lap around the field I managed to put it into the ground nose first, thankfully not too fast, the li-po safely ejected when the canaopy came off. The fuse is a bit cracked and bent right above the intake, and I broke off the nose right where the battery tray begins. I noticed that a lot of the foam went "poof" and left a little pile of beads, so I can't just glue it back together. I am new to foam planes. Can I just shape a new nose out foam insulation panels from the Home Center and glue it on? What is the best methode to cut the foam cleanly and leave a nice surface to attach the new nose?

Thanks in advance!

Here is my 1985 Tiger Meet F-16. Just as with Skyracer68 (who helped late one night last week to get the covering started ), this one is all stock aside from the speed control, which is a Castle 35. I didn't want to put on a smoke show with this one. The sign vinyl adds minimal weight and looks cool!

Double Trouble! The EF-16 is faster with a extreme TP 2200 Mah battery. I am running a CC Phoenix 35 though.
