NEW YORK CITY BASH

RE: NEW YORK CITY BASH
Nice vid, looks like lots a sand but still fun bashing. It sure was hot as hell outside, but at least it held out.
Hoping my engine comes in this week.

RE: NEW YORK CITY BASH
So I was just checking out google maps again at the HUGE dump(?) that is on the other side of the highway across from the mall. Is that open to go in? On the map it shows a lot of paths and stuff, and I know its hilly, so it would be a good spot? It's got the symbol of a park

Voxmagna, yeah. The AE Engine warranty sucks really. I went with a new one and will hold on to this one for extra parts. Eventually I may order a piston and sleeve and see if I can rebuild it and get it running.

I also ordered the tuned pipe for it, which I will put on after running with the standard muffler for a while so i can see the difference in power.

Joe, I had tried going down Fountain ave recently as I saw that spot on the map too. I could not get past where Fountain Ave goes underneath the Belt Parkway, its entirely fenced off.. There may be another way down there but I did not see.

I think we should check out the "queens spot" from page 3. It is mostly flat but it does have real dirt from 2 baseball diamonds and it could be fun with 1 or 2 ramps. It's very big, and almost no one is ever there. Its only 10-15min away from BJs. Here's a video of my dog chasing around my truck there

RE: NEW YORK CITY BASH
i think ive been by that spot in queens..its near the a bridge..right?
That spot on the other side of gateway is landfill...where there use to dump trash..not a good spot..and sometimes stinks pretty bad. They gated that part off a few years back when it became a dumping ground for "other stuff"
Emaxx spot is a lil far but it looks like a great spot.

Joe, the queens spot looks fine, where your dog was running after the truck. Great soundtrack to that video, btw. Where is it?
Yeah, the gated "park" on fountain ave is actually a giant landfill visible from the belt parkway while driving past the BJ's shopping center. Grass covered mountain...
Voxmagna, got my engine yesterday and the carburateur slide valve was stuck.. I applied oil and managed to slide it back and forth and its better but not perfect. QC is not good there.
I took the carb off my original engine and swapped it. Swapped the flywheel, clutch and bell and installed the engine. Attempted to start it up yesterday evening and it gave me the same trouble as the original engine....no start. Glow plugs, good. Igniter seemed fine. Scratching my head. I feel the compression, its a new engine. Its gotta at least fire. Turns out, after much frustration, the Integy igniter I had was flakey. It worked when I pulled the plug and tested it but right side up, as i would have it on the installed plug, it would not work consistently. Seems it does not make strong contact with the plug and when placed onj plug while on engine it is eratic.. I used the iginter that came with the MGT 8.0 and it fired right up. Got it broken in today and just need another day of fine tuning. Cut a hole in the windshield and making sure the engine temp is ok. Running excellent so far, fires right up, runs forever with no stalling..
I'm thinking there is a good possibility the original engine is ok. That flashy looking Integy igniter turns out to be crap and cost me a lot of grief....
Also, I replaced the metal spring on the brake linkage with some fuel tubing and now this beast can stop on a dime. It practically comes up on its front wheels in a hard stop. When my new steering servo comes and I switch the original steering servo to the throttle/brake its gonna stand on two front wheels...
Dont like the original tires much, looking forward to the Big Joes.

Everything I've read points to 99% of Integy products being complete junk. The Integy tools are the only thing that's supposed to be good.

Is the boat yard gone?

Wanna check out the Gerritsen Beach spot? I think it'll be cool to bash there. Worth a shot.
Tomorrow afternoon I'll be at FBF doing some more tuning runs on the 8.0

Hmm yea I would but I striped my low gears last time out and I haven't gotten new ones yet. I only have high gears which wouldn't work well in sand. What time you going over to FBF though?

Heading over there in a little while. should be there about 11-11:30. I can stay a couple of hours. I was there a short time yesterday and another dude was out with a 1/4 scale gas buggy. He was showing me an area just behind where we were that is mostly dirt and cut grass, a simple 10 ft walk through some brush. I will probably try it too today.
