You guys should come with the pede! I have an extra set of sand paddles I used on my stampede before I sold it. Is it the xl5 or vxl? BTW I'm Joe and 23.

Hey Joe! It's the XL-5. I put a 18T pinion gear on it for consistent wheelies and added a wheelie bar. Thanks for the invite, thats quite nice of you. I do hope to bring him around with his wheels eventually. Got him the 5000 mah batteries and wow they run for at least 20minutes or so,. He's got three packs now.

Try a lipo, it will be night and day and last ~45min runtime. My main car is just a rustler, which is basically a stampede with less ground clearance and smaller tires.

A lipo on the brushed motor? I doubt the XL-5 speed control can work with a lipo. I was considering upgrading the truck to a brushless system but his abilities are matched well with the speed he is at now. My charger only charges NiCD and NiMH

Yea it shouldl work, the newer ones even have LVC (low voltage cutoff) or you could just get a low voltage alarm. You need this because you cant run a lipo all the way down like a nimh. Is the xl5 esc blue or yellow? But yea the charger would probably be biggest investment. As for brushless, a lot of the ESCs out there alow you to tune down the power. Even the traxxas velineon lets you run in a 50% power mode until your ready to step up.

Its blue I dont think it has low voltage cutoff. My son-in-law has a brushless Slash and it stopped working for a while. he uses the 3000mah NIMH batteries that came with it. His friend borowed it and used a lipo in it. when he returned it the truck wouldnt run. He brought it to Brooklyn hobbies and they couldnet fugure it out and told him to run Lipos. i took the truck and figured out it was the ESC set to LVD and not able to run the NIMH in that mode.I went on Traxxas website and figured outhow to set it back to run NIMH. Now it runs well.

Yes, there is the 1/2 power mode for novices. Thats a thought.

Very nice to meet you all. Looking really forward to meeting you all. I got into rc vehicles almost 2 years ago. Now i own 11 vehicles, Can u say addiction or obsession. I love this hobby, Its the only thing that keeps me sane. I would drive to brooklyn every weekend jusrfor this hobby. I enjoy it so much. Ive been doing it by myself.
Im a machinist , I work on cnc milling machines and yes sometimes i modify parts and make parts. Like today, I used a lathe to turn down my hubs on my savage so i can fit the traxxas 17mm blue hubs on it. Ill show you sunday.

U can use lipo on brush. Just make sure its not such a high c rating. U dont want to push to much amps, U will fry the esc. My friend did it already. And by the way, I will be bringing a friend to with my on sunday, Hes a co worker, Hes 48. I got him into this hobby now he is hooked

I just hooked up the velineon motor and esc together with a receiver by itself to try it. And it works. It acts a little funny sometimes like it jumps. Its weird. If you want to take it off my hands for $25 for both ill bring it sunday . Ill sell the esc for $5 just because im not sure if its running 100%

Thanks E=maxx/ I doubt I'll make it sunday. No working vehicle. My son-in-laws Slash is somewhat eratic and twitchy which is bothersome.

Yea, I just checked on the traxxas site, the XL5 is "LiPo, NiCad, and NiMH compatible with two-stage low-voltage detection"

Maybe even earlier is better? I just checked and there is 40% chance of PM thunderstorms.

EmaXX, talking about hooking friends up, engineers work at your place? I just graduated mechanical engineering and need a job. [8D]

BTW Gary, I would take that deal for sure! You can't even get a brushed motor for that price. I don't think water messed up the ESC, I've seen videos of those thing running under water! Maybe I'll buy some of your 2s lipos from you also if you don't even use em

So the brushless motor will fit in the Stampede? Will it work with the NIMH for the time being? If so, that is a generous deal and my biggest expense would be the lipo charger and a couple of 2S packs.

Yes but you would need the brushless ESC also. You don't even need lipos. In fact, I think the velineon was designed to work just as well on NiMH. You will get way more speed, lower temps, longer runtime, and it is pretty much maintenance free.

Tomorrow about 1:00 I head over to Marine Park and have my son Kyle run his Pede on the baseball diamonds and the mounds of dirt by the dugout. Prety cool little area for the elcetric pede.

And also, the brushless with lipo later on will for sure give any nitro a run for its money (most likely shame the nitro!). EmaXX will prove it.

No need to convince w=me of electric. All speed records and such are held by electrics.  I still love my Nitros.  My son will love the extra zest from the lipos , Im sure.

Voxmagna, ever try the bigger clutch bell in the truck?  My 8.0 comes with a 20T clutch bell and was very brutal on the low end. I'm thinking the 23T CB would still have good pop on low end but attaingreat to speed. Whatddya think?

Yes you got the power, i still have stock clutch(15) which is rusting and spur(52)*. the dynamite shoes and mugen1.1 springs make a big difference.

Nice to meet u all...
My Name is John (33). Im a recording engineer...i have a studio downtown bk where i mostly record vocals and mix music. Im also pro audio computer engineer... i work on computers at other studios. I got into r/c about 15 years ago...started with Tamiya 1/10th onroad electric kit cars... Old school days with 7.2v batteries, 20t motors and MECHANICAL speed controls lol. I liked the aspect of building the car from scratch. Never raced...just ran on any flat surface i could find. After totaling 3 HPI RS4s, i wanted something more durable that i could drive anywhere...so I got into monster trucks about 3 years ago with the Mini MGT. Liked it so much i that i got the bigger 1/8th MGT soon after. I would like to get into 1/5th offroad next....maybe a 1/5 brushless...

Yes, That motor and esc comes in the brushless stampede. And it does take nimh batteries. If you want, I can set it up for you one day. And tell me what connectors u want on the esc and ill solder it for you.
