RE: Virus warning
ORIGINAL: Radical Departure
That did cross my mind, but its looking like I'm not going to have a lot of time rest of this week. (No opportunity to even fire up the PC up at home last night). If its still hanging around thru the weekend, I may give it a shot, supposed to be raining here so no flying! []
In that vein I've used Ethereal and Wireshark for a few years, recently stumbled onto MS NetMon, not sure where I got it but had dumped it into a util dir and forgot about it. Fired it up a few days ago, and you know, I'm kinda impressed with it. Nice interface and a decent option set, various decodes, etc.. If you're into this stuff, and it sounds like you are, take a peek at it if haven't already. As to Linux, I must admit I'm not there yet, heck, I haven't been able to even get Umbutu to successfully install. Something else do do on a rainy day.. lol!!!

Now I don't know if this is accurate as I'm not entirely sure as to how it works but it is certainly relevant. I'm using AdBlock Plus with Firefox (Both free).. can someone perhaps try installing this addon and see if it fixes the issues?
A random thought but a possible one.
By the way, maybe you should try virtualization rather than a physical ''junk'' computer. Install Puppy Linkux, Wireshark and the rest of the capture tools.. besides, Linux is resistant to Windows based code. (Other attacks are another story of course)

RE: Virus warning
I'm using Firefox with Norton), no problems other than threads I'm subscribed to seem to take forever to load and some won't load at all. Using AVG ([X(]) at work I get virus warnings all the time.

What appears to be next is this! I can't get on using my regular browser (Firefox) and AVG at all. I am using Ubuntu to post this. I guess it's goodbye RCU and hellow RC Groups which works just fine with my normal browser and AVG.

One thing about it These people are not going to fix a thing till a lot more complain. Why mess with the few when they have 10,000 people on line and do nothing but put up with it Yes some are just lucky, others like to have atleast a halfassed site.

Internet Brands
If people would just post on the threads some one will see it When the Mods. just look the other way you know some one told them to. If you do not have to spend money why in the hell spend it to fix some thing that helps pay the bills.

Bit hard to post a report in the thread when you can’t even get into RCU, it’s the only site that is being blocked by AVG out of the hundreds that I visit each week. Like most other people I just go over to RCGroup, if RCU can't sort this problem soon I think it will mean a big drop off ln patronage.

Hopefully another fair and honest statement along those lines is: I'm starting to wonder if one of the forums "competitors" has anything to do with these problems. I say "competitors", as money is a much bigger issue to some places than here, as some are all about the money, verified by numerous actions observed over time. Being all about the money, there is one place I can think of, that I wouldn't put it past them to cause issues. Not a lovely thing to say, but it is arrived at by the same method as other suspicions eventually become known as accepted facts, which are unusual coincidences. This is quite a coincidence: "it’s the only site that is being blocked by AVG out of the hundreds that I visit each week"

RE: Virus warning
I don't understand the problem. I'm using MS essentials. I am not having any problems getting on RCU, no malware warnings and no blocks.
Maybe it's a problem with AVG.
