Sorry I didn't explain it better Vern. "closed system" made it sound like an air conditioning system.

Gary,

Thanks for the information above. Here are three images of the Top Flite Corsair guns to assist you if you deiced to make a system of lights for this kit as well. If you want dimensions I can give that as well.

Thank you. We would indeed like to make gun systems available for other planes.

A look at the finished product of our custom exhaust for the CARF Corsair.

For mounting, the builder will need to provide (2) 6-32 cap screws or equivalent, (2) blind nuts for same, (4) 3/4 x 3/4 x 1/8" ply blocks.

The silicon parts you see are cut from a 1/4" thick block we provide.

Cut the silicon block into two 3/8" strips and pilot a hole the size of your mounting bolt.

This will provide an insulator between your pipes and the fuselage.

Pilot your fuselage for the mounting bolt, and install by spinning the ply with the blind nut on from the inside. Some epoxy will finish the install of the blind nut assembly. It will now be very easy to remove your pipes for servicing your engine and such.

See how it lines up with the holes I made in the cowl flap ring.

For those building flaps like I did on this Corsair, you will want to attach the flex pipe (supplied but not shown) to the exhaust pipe, with the provided clamp, and then slide the assembly through the hole in the wood ring from the back. This puts the clamp behind the wood ring where you want it.

We will have the shrouds available very soon.

Put an order into Meister for a supply of 12" aluminum foil. Should be here tomorrow. They sell it by the foot, and usually ship within a couple days. Then we can get some aluminum done for the gallery. We will do leading edges, the cowl nose and flaps, etc.

It is 6". Need 12" for the wings on the Corsair. The leading edge panels are way over 6", and They are what will be done first.
When we buy foil, we always get 12". You can always cut it smaller.

The panel line you see on the top is even farther back from the front, on the bottom. The Corsair has some very large panels in other places as well.

The 6" will work for many things as well. No loss.

This little future RC pilot was at the Cleveland Clinic yesterday. They were told to be there a 9AM. The procedure (an IV injection treatment for his condition) takes about 2 hours. Didn't even start the procedure till way into the evening. They got home about 1AM. Totally ridiculous. A very unnecessarily long day for a little guy with two broken legs.

Shame on you Cleveland Clinic!!!!

Hi there, here is how i did the small wing doors.I made them out of 0.6mm alulinium bent to the wing shape. To close them i used a kevlar wire and a spring in the main gear bay.Grtz Bruno

Nice idea. Are your intakes scaled out, or did you use the plastic dummy ones CARF supplies? If open (scale), we have found that springs are not enough to hold the doors shut in flight due to the considerable air force from the inside. A mechanical link would seem to be the way to go with scale intakes.

here is a shot from Top Gun. You can see the the little door open. It is red on the underside.

I am considering using a high strength little magnet to hold my doors closed. On my sailplane spoilers, I use a broken single edged razor blade epoxied to one side and an magnet epoxied in place on the other side. I am thinking this might work great when in the closed position. These little magnets are strong. But when the wing folds up, the door should slide away from the magnet and ride up the wing. Also a small spring attached to pull the door back down.
Other than that, I can't wait for Gary to show us a solution.

I like the magnet idea, in addition to the spring. A simple solution that would add considerable holding power. Thanks Vern.

I plan to go for something in between for the intakes, but whit the setup i made the the tension on the spring is so that its imposible for the door to blow open in flight, the spring i used is 30mm long and pretty strong, grtz Bruno

I am always amazed at the force air imposes on various parts. We burnt up two sets of servos on our P-47, when we attached them to the inner gear doors.

If the spring is strong enough to hold the door shut, the door will be hard on the finish of your wing as it folds. I like the idea of the magnet. A weaker spring can be used, and once the initial bond of the magnet is broken, far less pressure is on the door as it contacts the wing.

I'm sure you will have them very soon. Overseas shipping is somewhat unpredictable.

Looking forward to your impressions of them.
