Ah, I forgot. 25litres of kero is almost weightless.
I'm into EDF and Turbines and both are great for me and both have their advantages and disadvantages and i'm not keen on putting either in a Blackhorse airframe.

RE: black horse now producing jets!
I think before we say that everything that comes from china is crap we need to see one up close, I have not had any problems with my Blackhorse kits so am I the only one? just because it does not cost 1k+ it does not mean you cannot get as much fun out of it as anything else and it does not mean it will come apart in the air.
people need to remember that cm pro made the boomerangs and they come from china I belive
I cannot wait until the kits manufacturers that have been overcharging us for years finally have some real competition
bring it on is what I say

I think they are available to buy now. Might get to see one at the Nats if we are lucky

There's at least one for sale in the UK already. I've only briefly seen it but didn't look too far as i didn't realise that the fuselage was wood. That isn't necessarily a problem but I was expecting a glass fuselage.

An update to this model. I used to share your opinion about Black Horse, but this one was a plesant surprise. At first glance it seems smaller then the current benchmark, the Taft Viperjet. Looking closer it's actually quite a bit larger and the smaller wingspan is due to the lack of winglets. It's a good 4" longer!
It's all wood and looks good. The struts provided actually looks good too and the suspention works without any metal to metal feel as all other China struts have. Not Tamjet standard, but way better then we use to see. It features wheel wells of vaccum formed plastic which are perfect to prevent FOD.
The larger size makes it a perfect turbine convertion where the larger and heavier P20 fits well too. ...or the rumored micro turbines comeing that weighs in at about 15oz with a thrust of about 7lb.
I put all parts on a scale to sum up the weights for you.
Wings 380g
Fuse 944g
Stab/rudder/wingspars 180g
______________________________________
1504g
Struts 260gram (all 3 pcs with wheels)
Electric retract units 67g(x3)
_________________________________
1965grams
To compare to the benchmark Taft Viperjet weighing in at 1705grams with the much needed Tamjet struts and larger wheels.
With my experience I predict this one to have a dry weight of 6.6lb/3kg with a Kolibri turbine.
Please note that some pics feature the Taft Viperjet as compartion and the Taft weight is w/o fin.
To sum it up, I was wrong about this one! I'm willing to try this one next.

Yes, thanks for the info Kenke
I admit I am a bit underwhelmed by the news. It is only a small, film covered, wooden ARF for EDF.
At the price quoted it seems extremely expensive as the retracts are not included.
Maybe that price include the EDF unit??
If not, the 1370mm span Hobbyking one looks far better value. Still not my scene anyway.
Wake me again when they do something suitable for a Jubilee 80

As for the price I won't comment. I don't even know the retail of the Black Horse, I only went through the box making a mini review of the unboxing :-) Only thing a know about price is that even if the HK one were $15 it would not be good value for the money as it won't fly very well.

I have yet to decide if I will choose another Viperjet or go with the BD5-J or their larger L39. Time will tell

It's preparded for the standard small plastic retract units found under many brands. Habu 32 uses them too.
I'm sure this one will do well on a P20, but I fly the other brand of micro turbine

Henke,
I`ve just ordered one of these Vipers,In your opinion would a P20 be sufficient power for grass take off? 5.2lb thrust on a 7-8lb airframe is ok?

Pleasently surprised by the size, build and weight. I'm using an 8s Wemo system. Flys almost as fast as my 8s Habu. But much slower landings. I got a Jet Legend Viper, and this little one flys similar, but lighter. Good on grass field op's too. The oleos work nicely.
