Really? I was thinking about getting a Funtana 40 to compare to the Harrier. I'm also thinking about a GMS 76 for a more powerful engine. Still getting used to hanging on the prop with this one. It does it well, but I feel I could benefit from more thrust.

I've used the 82 on two planes, UCD46 and Twist. I found the 14x4W APC prop works for me. I'm at 4800' elevation so if you're closer to sea level you might turn a 15x4W but that would be a lot of prop. I was very satisfied with the 14x4W. I burn 30% nitro and it works very good for me.

Barry is correct, I have 2 saito 82's and I broke them in with a 13x6, then went to a 14x4W on 15% nitro. Now that both of mine have ~1-2 gallons thru them they swing a 15x4W well, on 15%or 20%. My elevation is ~450-500 above sea level. I tried a 16x4W and it was a little too much. Good luck, SD

yeah fixed the previous problem with the wing bolts with some locktite. now i love it even more. itll be good practise to tide me over until i get my patty going. i recomend more than a 46 for power tho. i have a 65 in mine and am going to move up to a 91. good luck to all those who fly these they are a good plane just got hit a little hard with the ugly stick if you ask me.

You know...I don't think I've ever hooked my highly accurate, trusty fish scale up to the 82. I can't believe it...but I don't ever remember taking any numbers. I'm gonna hazard a guess and say 9.5 - 10 lbs thrust. Next time I fly my UCD46 I'll take that number as I always have the scale with me. My UCD weighs 5lbs 12ozs (version #4) and the 82 flies it wonderfully. I always use 30% fuel which helps greatly but it's very powerful. I love the way it flys it. It will pull smartly out of a stationary hover and go up as far as you can see it. Very nice indeed.

I also have had 82s on the Mayhem 40 (5lbs 1ozs) and my Twist at just a bit over 6lbs (can't remember the actual weight) and the engine flew them great.

I think the Harrier is heavier than the ones I've mentioned but my belief is it would handle it fine as well. The UCD46 is very nearly my favorite plane. I'm back and forth between it and the UCD60 and my Velox. It's very close between them. One day I like the 46 the best and the next day I like the 60 the best.

Anyways...the 82 would be a great engine on the Harrier. The real question should be...is the Harrier better than the UCD46? I like my UCD 60 better than the Harrier 90 but I haven't flown the Harrier 46 so I can't say.

I fly my harrier 46 on the magnum 91 fs and a MAS K-series 14-6 and it is just great. I did start out with an ASP 52 xls twostroke and 12.25-3.75 prop and then went to the MVVS 49 on the minipipe and 12-4 apc, but after upgrading to 91 fourstroke there`s no turning back, despite the extra weight

Ditto on the UCD being pretty good. I loved my UCD 46. Note the past tense. I have another one to put together, but decided to try the Harrier with the 48" wing vs 57" UCD. It will fit in my car assembled. My UCD weighted closer to 7#. (don't know why)
The workmanship on the Harrier looks pretty good and I think that it will fly maybe as good as the UCD, with the shorter wing maybe handle the windy days a little better, even though the UCD was sweet. I think I will put the 82 in the Harrier and maybe bump up the Nitro to 20%. If you go by the 1.5 times thrust for 3-d flying ratio, than 9#s thrust would be fine for a 6# Harrier.

I have a saito 72 in my harrier 46. It flys well. Working on different props right now. It harriers so easy i induce down elevator to land the plane. This is my second one . The first went haywire on a bad reciever. It had an os 70 in it.

Ok guys, I got my Harrier .46 in as wellBeautiful job on the covering, skin tight..I love it!!
I am going to put my O.S. 61FX in it, and will upgrade to 4-40 rods with Du Bro quick links and Du Bro extra strong horns!! I have HiTec High Torque Karbonite servo's reserved for this baby!! with a 6V battery....
Is there anything you guys recommend I should do or NOT do during building of this plane??Anything you guys encountered during the building process you did different or so??Any input is sooo much appreciated!! Thanks in advance!!

Hello All!
Finally getting ready to put Harrier together. Opened the box and the fuselage was severely cracked right behind the canopy area. Horizon Hobbies replaced it sight unseen in a timely manner. Great company to deal with. Now to decide which engine to put in it. I recently aquired a YS 63 and can't decide whether to put YS or Saito 82 in. Both weigh 16.2 oz. approx. Wonder if anyone has done a comparison of both? Thanks to Barry for all his great advice on YS engines, UCDs. Anyone else with suggestions please chime in.

Yes, a friend of mine has the harrier and has and 82 saito in it, mounted inverted. Workes great. Plenty of power, but does not knife edge or flat spin well at all. Any input on this?

Hey everybody, i just crashed mine today due to my tt .46 crappin out at maybe 50-75 feet in a slow harrier/hover, i was able to just get it almost level when it hit but there is some ugly damage to the right wing. The fuse also broke just behind the hatch. My question, anyone have a right wing they want to sell me? I can fix the fuselage, but don't want to mess with the wing. Horizon has the wing set for almost 50 but thats half what i paid for the whole damned plane!! And i only need the right.
