Hi WM
Glad to have you aboard. MY 2 pennies on the cowl is to go with the secound version from fiberglass specialties, it has the slightly open cowl flaps, and if you are intersted in doing some of the mode's there are a coupla of outher threads by what i think are experts, I would recomend reading ( let me know)and I will dig up the titiles.

Hello every one. i want to use a Saito 450 radial in a topflite giant corsair that i am going to be building. I read where there was an article in highflite magazine on that configuration but i cannot get through to highflite to buy the back issue. can any one here help with any tips on using the 450 saito and has any one tried this and if so how does it handle with it.

Hi guys
Sounds like you all are making head way and the pic's are great, as they give me ideas for my next project. ( T/F G/S corsair) But right now I am fiddling with and trying to build the wing fillet on my 47 and what T/F gives you is no ware near scale, so after several lay outs and and start and stops, Well you guys no the drill, maybe i'll be over this hurddle in another week
Anyway keep posting

Warbird Man
I am no expert so heres what i think
I used 4 7/8 inch wheels from here http://www.aerotechmodels.com/P51ACCESS.htm very nice wheels and cheaper than Robart .If i had it to do over i would stick with the 4.5 wheels in the plans heres why .1 its a very tight fit to get those larger wheels in the wing and not get them to scrub . 2 they are very heavy . 3 the diffrance is not that noteceable .4 if you are using the mecanical door closing devices to operate your doors it makes getting them to function properly a pain . JMHO I am no expert

Hear is my 2 pennies worth I used sulliver sky lite 4 1/2 with metal hubbs they are first lite and narrow enough to get a good fit on the doorsm the 1 thing I did not like the were a little sloppy on the axles so I drilled them out just enough to get a thin wall bushing in, and now they run vary smoth. So far they have worked vary well on out grass field.

Those wheels sure are nice! I'd like to get a set for my TF P-51. I just can't get over the cost of a pair of model airplane wheels. ( I paid less for a pair of mag wheels for my "69 Camaro ) I guess it Robarts or the good ol' and heavy Du-bros.

Been using 4" du-bros on my big 20+ lbs weeks and if your are set on them please bush them as the hubbs don't like the weight I had 3 sets crack out befor I started bushing them, and this pair are about 4 years old and probably 150 landings,

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
No problem Bob. if you run a center line on the top of the corsair the hatch is centered up on that .Its supposed to be the flap that they locked down to the fuse on the real corsair .The hatch is 4 1/4 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide . I used a piano hinge to hinge it wich is 4 1/8 inches long .On the hinge fiind the center of the hinge and cut a hinge section out on one side only thats 1 inch long centered up on the previosly marked center line .Only glue that 1 inch piece to the hatch the rest of the hing is there to fill in the gap when closed Ive inclosed some pics that i hope makes more since than what i just wrote
Oh i used JB quick to glue hinges to glass

G'Day Cimara.
Thanks a bunch for posting your cowl attachment set up, great idea!! I just have one question, have you 3 or 4 attachment points? I can only make out 3 one on the top and one each either side. Thanks again.
Regards.
Bill.
