I know that the Warhead has caused MANY people some level of frustration.....That includes me. I bought mine 2 years ago as my 2nd RC vehicle purchase...and was astounded at how many issues that there were with it. Realizing that the truck had almost no value, I decided to keep it. About 8 months ago I decided to get out of NITRO, and converted the Warhead to electric. WHY would I do this???? The answer was simply to see if it could be done. After 3 failed attempts at fitting in a strong enough mount for a brushless motor, I have had a level of success. Add to that, I switched to a RTX transmission. This has proven to be a more durable setup. The steel spur gears have caused me all sorts of grief with the outter ring separating from the inner ring under use....but I think that I now have that fixed as well. (3 steel spur gears and matching MOD1 pinions later) NOW the truck is fun. I cannot throw a ton of power at it as the DIFFs cannot take it, but the Feigao 6xl with 3 cell lipo has made it a torque filled quick truck. It can wheelie and flip on demand (from a stop), but with some tweaking of the throttle curve in the Monster Max, it is definitely controllable. Duratrax made many mistakes with the Warhead...and tried to fix some of it with the RTX.....both still came up short. I have accumulated a pile of parts on eBay for this truck, and in it's current form, I should have some good times with it.....but it is not a "recommended buy".

Fire that puppy up! Run it til it breaks then fix it an run some more! Can get parts on ebay right now a whole lot cheaper then any LHS. I'm still beating mine to death and if I finally burn up the st-27's I'll consider modding it with something else. I'm enjoying how cheap these things are and since I don't race for money it doesn't matter to me if their old tech or not. I get my laughs and so does a couple of my pals with these trucks.

I had totally forgotten how much fun the old warhead was. I got it running again, then took it to the gravel pit where I haul gravel from in my truck. Holy #$@^!!! In about 15 minutes, I had a ton of fun, and had about 20 people that stopped just to watch me play. Jumping over 10 and 15 foot piles of gravel, climbing steep walls, just wished I had a video of it all. Anyway, only a tie rod end for breakage, and it ran like no tomorrow. Weather's getting colder here, so hopefully I have time to play again before winter. Dang, that was a blast!

Heh, I know that's right! So many peoples gave up on these trucks, for whatever reason. I think that as long as parts are available I'll keep cookin those little motors till they cook no mo. Then I'll figure out what else to do with em. I've got 3 myself and a couple of me pals got theirs. When we all get together we really have a blast. I have no prob stepping out by myself to the woods and run them around a little as they really make me laugh, especially around here in these hills, the terrain is perfect for a 4 wheel drive. It's amazing what they can go through and if/when they land back on all fours to be able to keep gittin it. Too cool!
Anyway, glad to hear someone else has dusted off theirs. After a little over two years I'm still beatin mine up an still havin fun with them.

hey guys. so i just found this thread. i have had my warhead for about a year now. my first 1/8th scale...and the toughest truck i have owned. the supertiger engine finally broke...so i'm in the process of putting a axial .28 spec on it. today, i realized i need a different clutch nut to hold on the flywheel. after i find out which one to use, i will order it. hopefully i'll be bashing in a couple weeks...weather permitting. kinda hard to break in the new engine when its 40 degrees out lol.

hey if anyne has an old body they want to sell for cheap, let me know. i hate paying $30 for a dam body and then shipping too?!! lol. i have yet to put a body on my truck as i bought it without one. oh well. im just waiting for the weather to warm up...and this beast is gonna hit the streets...well...hit the dirt....post videos of your trucks if you got em.

Let me check it out..may have an old EVO body at my shop..youll se I've posted alot...It's yellow and not that bad of shape..I'm not into RTX Warheads anymore and sold all of my stuff...could send it Parcel Post or whatever is cheapest if you want it!!..Later... Mess[:@]
