If you engne runs very rough when you install your cowl and runs great with out the cowl than you need a static line.
The carb has a hole in the diaphragm plate. You would install a 8x32 or 6x32 pressure nipple into the hole on the diapgragm plate than run it into the fuselage. This would insure that the pressue on the diaphragm would stay constant. I have had to run a static line on my Brillelli engines. The carb on the XYZ-50 is a WT-805 which is a different carb and if your engine is running right with the cowl on than you don''t need one.

I don''t really thin the WT-201 would be a better carb. I will know more once I test run my XYZ-50 tomorrow. The WT-805 carb that comes with the engine is a 13.5mm carb so it is the right size for a 50cc engine. I could try the WT-201 carb on the engine just to see if it would make a differance

Remove the carb, then the reed assembly (noting it's position), and flip it over and look at the reeds. My engine was hard to start and would only idle. It would die if I gave it any throttle. Then we found the broken reed. Note which gasket goes where.

freeonthree, i just test flighted a ultimate bip. i have to say i'm hooked. i've tested everything else. turbines, electrics, 540-trainers. that was the most fun i've had yet. right before i told you this i ordered a 120 ultimate for myself. i'll put the infamouse 26cc motor on it. the one i test flew had the same motor on it. it wasn't running good. i mentioned some of the pointers i got from this thread and the sob ran great. thanks all!!

well whoever will take credit, it looks awesome. the one i flew had a 16/8 prop. it seemed to need alittle more prop. but i dont know about an 18/6 like the add says. any thoughts?[&:]

I'm glad to hear someone else say something like this too. I'm the same way, if I'm lucky enough to stumble across a combination that I really enjoy.
I had a Goldberg Cub with an Enya 80-4C and a Florio Stunt Wagon with an OS .32F-H that fit the same profile. When I was flying those (different eras), my other planes just sat in the garage with no usage.
I like to fly the same model so much that I learn it to the point where I can begin to do stunts with it that others would think are impossible. You need a really steady model and consistent running engine (not the most powerful or expensive) to do this kind of flying. What's cool is that you show up with a model that looks ho-hum and not particularly special, then you subtly, without any kind of announcement or fanfare, begin your routine. Your routine appears to be just normal sport flying for most folks, then you begin to tighten up the low flying maneuvers, and move them even lower to the ground. I push it until I begin to hear signs of relief, oohs and ahhs from the audience. But, I still try to appear as though I'm just casually sport flying, with no expectation that anyone is watching my peformance. What a hoot. Especially when they applaud upon landing.
There used to be some old fellows that had a routine using models of Cubs. I do not know their names, but they always put on quite a show. I wish I could fly as well as they.

I don't get to fancy with my Stearman, I never learned too many stunts. I tried flying inverted in the past, and it alway ended the same eventually, so I just quit for plane preservation. I do loops, rolls, and hammerheads, and some cool turns, but thats pretty much it. I perfer a medium slow speed, and my favorite thing is landing. I probably land 10 to 15 times per flight. I just like to land really...

One of the things that the older gentlemen did was to run their Cubs around the field on one wheel. I still can't do that for long, but these guys could do circles and figure eights on the ground. I have a long way to go to get anywhere near as good as these guys. Whatcha wanna bet that they both started out just loving to land? 8>)
I'm hoping that the SV26 I have turns out to be a long lasting engine with very reliable performance. I have a couple of larger Cubs that I've been saving for just this size engine.
