When you start your SV50, if the plane shakes horrifically, and all the mounting ears break off the engine within a few seconds, then you have a bad one. hahaha !
If it vibrates like a normal engine, then you got a good one.

So far the engine works without special problems 3 consecutive hours on stand(running in) with 20X8 prop
In the next weekend the engine will consist on my extera 260 hangar 9.

OK guys,
Today, I took the Cap 232 with the XYZ 50cc gasser to the field and ran 3 tanks through it.
I even got some video that is at the youtube address below.
A. Started immediately
B. After it warmed up a bit, it had a good steady idle at 2100rpm w/ JFX 21x8 prop, Vibration was not terrible
C. Initially high end was around 5900rpm, but by 3rd tank high end was at 6100
I am very pleased with this engine so far.

Well, I took it to the field again today and the XYZ-50cc is still a winner. I had to tighten the muffler with lock-tight. no big deal.
Today I ran 2 more tanks through it. My rpm have improved to 6500 with the 21x6 prop and I am producing 17.9lbs of thrust on a 14.5lbs plane. I will experiment with a 22x8 after the engine has been through a gallon or so of gas.
I hope to maiden it tomorrow.

Glad to see your RPM's improved some. I bet with a little tuning of the carb after a few more tanks you'll get close to 7000RPM with that 21x8 prop. What 21x8 prop is it your are using. I know some of the good wooden props load down the engine more than others. TBM is one that will load the engine down, but it does pull very well.

I am using a JFX which is the same as the XOAR and NX props.

now I have to get cracking on my CG Sukhoi. I have mounted the SPE 26cc gasser and have just a little more work and I'll be ready to provide info on that engine too.

I am sure you'll get very close to 7000RPM with that prop once a few more tanks have been run thru the engine. I have a Brillelli 46GT and I am getting 7100RPM with a Xoar 21x8 prop. My Brillelli 46GT has a Walbro 201 carb. That is the same carb a DA-50 use's. Do you know what Walbro carb is on the XYZ 50. If it is not a 13.4 mm carb like the Walbro 201 you my be down a little in RPM.

I'll be getting my XYZ 50 this Friday and I'll take the carb off and take a look. The # on the Walbro carb is very small and hard to read. Sometimes I have to put the carb under a magnifying glass just to read the #. If the carb is a 12.7 or 13.4mm carb it should be OK. Anything smaller and you will be down is RPM's. I had a SPE 40 and it was running a little rough. Just could'nt get it to run right. I ordered and Walbro 201 carb from Brillelli and that not only made the engine run better, my RPM's jumped 500RPM's. The SPE 40 had a 11.1mm carb on it.

My friend just called me and said that the SV50 didn't even have a cylinder sleeve. Now I have to wonder about my SV26, which by the way just got a new mounting plate. I like the words heavy duty... lol

Well, you guys have convinced me to stay away from the SV engines. I sorry that you have had such bad luck with them.
I was looking at the Hobby city webpage and it looks like they have some new products.

A couple of months ago, Hobby City was supposed to send Greg and I new
rear crankcases for my SV26, and his SV50. They finally showed up
today, but instead of gaskets to put the engines back together with,
they sent us two micro digital servo's. What a hoot ! I want some of
what those folks are smoking ! I used to be disgusted, but now im
just amused. Small, thin walled gaskets are no fun to make, but it
looks like we have no choice. Hobby City has the worst customer
service I have ever experienced, and I will never buy from them
again.
Now for the good news.... The new Stearman is finally ready for it's maiden flight.

OK, im giving this SV26 one more chance. This time it quit because of a broken reed. Replaced the reed assembly, and she's running top notch again. Turning an 18x8 MAS Classic at 6900, and idleing sweet at 1300.
Im going to get a sheet of G10 fiberglass sheet to make replacement reeds with for the future, thanks Larry ! I'll fly er tomorrow and post an update. My fueler is creating alot of bubbles, so I may have to run a filter in that spot for now...

Well, I had my maiden flight of the Cap232 with the XYZ-50cc gasser today. I am VERY please with the quality of this engine for the money....so far. I flew 3 good flights and with each flight I got better RPMs. I was consistently around 6500-6600 rpm
with great vertical power. I was able to hover at about 70% power with decent pull out. I do have some video that I will edit this week and get on youtube ASAP. Over-all, I am very pleased with this engine. For the money, it is a great buy.

This is great news about the XYZ-50. I have not yet started mine, but I will this Thurday when I am off of work. I''ll let you know how it goes.

With your engine inside a cowl did you have to run a static line from the carb intro the fuselage? I have had to do this on most of my gas engines that have a side mounted carb''s.
