RE: DL-50 engine
69,
I have one off the new ones that I have converted and it has held up just fine... I would suggest that you have the local machine shop weld on a small bung to hold the threads better but that is all you will need...
Good Luck,
Ed

69Runner,
I use the same tap and it works fine.. Just an additional suggestion, dial down the smoke oil volumn to 50% right off... And then adjust to the desired level. I have found that both pumps that I have tried (TME and Sullivan) that they pump way more Oil then needed...
Good LUck!

Paul, are you serious with the 7650 on a 22x8? Mine turned "only" 7200 withthe same prop. And with a 22x10 it dropped to 6700. Now those numbers where measured from aTBM wooden prop.

Kevin,
I think your tach needs calibrating! Just kidding, that's impressive. What are you running for a muffler? Any idea what the static pull is?

Tach is brand new and checked agianst others...Works fine...[sm=thumbs_up.gif]...Exhaust system is a Chip Hyde header with one of his pipes...Prolly adds a couple of hundred RPM....I have no idea what the static thrust is but it pulled the Chip Hyde Vision vertical forever...Engine and pipe are now mounted on an EF Yak...

RE: DL-50 engine
Okydoky you all have me convinced that the DL-50 is a good engine. I will be ordering one for a 27% G.P. Cap 232. It should be in the 13-14 pound range. What Vess prop do you think? I know.. its been asked before but there is 148 pages of info here! Also, has anyone run Avgas in the DL-50? Thanks guys.

RE: DL-50 engine
Mr. Vess told me that the best prop for a 50cc engine for Three D flying is the 23 A he flys at our club from time to time, I would think that you would want to do Three D with that cap?

RE: DL-50 engine
As Mr. Vess had explained to me that the 23 A is not an 8 and it si not a 10 because of the twist that the prop has, then he went into the science of the twist of the prop at that point he lost me, I will say that the prop has done me well on my two 3D birds,

RE: DL-50 engine
I have been running this engine for over a year now and it has been a nearly flawless motor. Only time it didnt run right was my fault messing with the needles.
I run a Vess 22A on mine. A lot of people will swear by certian props. As far as top rpm... I could care less about that as I am more concerned with how the engine performs on transition. What really matters is... what does the plane like? I am flying a 27% Ultimate. Lots of drag so it need lots of pull (traction). So the lower pitch prop is perfect for this plane. I havent tried a 23A or 22B and I am sure this engine will pull either just fine. It has the power to take it staight up on demand at most any attitude without any lag even after extended low rpm run and thats important to most any seasoned pilot.
BTW from what I have experienced so far the Vess is one of he quieter props out there.
Cant really go wrong with this engine from a value point($390 shipped including accessories). And certianly no problems with the service from Bob Kramer (DLUSA.COM)who markets them localy here in Texas.

RE: DL-50 engine
I have a DL50 on order for my GP Ultimate. Unfortunately it is the Chinese lunar new year and DL is getting no shipments from China. It's been around 10 days since I placed my order and Bob at DL told me they will hopefully get a shipment at the end of this week. That's fine with me but the only problem I have is that they charged my credit card at the time of order without informing me they had no engines to ship.

Steve,
I hear yah on the credit card charges. I am sure Bob would credit your card if you asked. But since he said the next shipment is due soon I wouldnt get to worried.
