DLE30!

RE: NEW DLE30!
Go for the single bolt prop hub setup, it's sooo much better to work with. The 30 does'nt need multi bolts, the 3.2 Brison I have has a single bolt and it works fine too!

Thanks for the reply. I am quite sure it will fly strait up with no problem. The big problem will be keeping the speed down...always using throttle management to the max. What did you use for hindges? I do not know if the stock round CA type that came with it is good or??? That is another reason to keep all out speed within reason. Flutter wrecks things fast! Capt,n

This may be to simple? Mount a servo that is controlled by a extra channel of your choice so that when you flip a toggle switch or flap trim...the servo arm shuts off the power to the ignition. ( Anyrod push rodcould be used for ignition seperation.) You know the switch you turn on to power your ignition. Capt,n P.S. is there a problem with that idea?

RE: NEW DLE30!
Men,
Someone asked this before but I still want more info. What is a good aerobatic plane for the DLE 30? Who is SAPAC? They have a Extra A330. Never heard of them. How about Seagull Extra 260 180? Any other options?
Thanks men!
Brad

RE: NEW DLE30!
I am going to fly a seagull extra 260 180 size very soon.I am ordering my dle30 hopefully tommorow.I think it will be great.I hope after this project (knock on wood) to purchase either a velox 68 or sc extra 330 72 inch from ben at 3Dhobby.I own about 6 of his electric 3D;s already and feel they are the best planes on the market! he sells a gas conversion kit for the models and they fly absolutely incredible.. as for other brands extremeflight has a 74 and 88 inch yak 54 that would also be awesome with a dle 30..
did I mention the AJSlick70.andy worked with 3Dhobby and the plane is incredible.I am starting with the seagull as I had it hanging around all last year thinking my satio 180 would power it but seeing these dle 30's I am so excited.I wish I had done it earlier inasmuch as theres a 3D throwndown of sorts in nearby bennington VT this coming weekend.I'll take my viper and 55 inch extra but I dearly wish I had been quicker and got my dle then.
these planes are excellent because of the quality but also the weight to motor at approx 10 pounds means they will fly sick! one of my rc buddies already flies an 89inch 3dhobby shpextra with a 55cc and its according to him hands down the best plane ever at just 16 pounds.
I'll try to post pics in a week or so .but monday my first call is to jedijodi! yippee.

FYI Alot of the older gas plane's and even some glow used the method you have described, worked good as long as there was not any radio or reciever problems.

RE: NEW DLE30!
Cloudancer,
Searching the web sites and forums, it looks like the Seagull Extra 260 is a great choice. The specs show a weight of 13#. Is this too heavy? Let us know what jedijody says. Looking forward to hearing more and pics. Good luck and thanks for your help!

RE: NEW DLE30!
If you have a radio failure all the technology in the world won't save your airplane..No radio, no technology...Might just take less time to hit the ground if the engine is still running...

RE: NEW DLE30!
I was thinking the kill button...whatever... would be good on the ground. Looking back though, the guy,s airplane that got away & hit myparked airplaneon the ground ...a kill switch would not have helped. He could not respond that fast...as his engines prop ate away a real big chunck out of my airplane. We remained frriends though. It was a terrific way to meet! Capt,n

RE: NEW DLE30!
I've sent this question to Jody but no response yet. Can anyone tell me some measurements from the rear intake 30? I especially need the overall length of the engine from the prop drive flange to the rear of the carb. Also need the measurement from the prop to the back of the mounting lugs. Would like to know the most compact Pitts style muffler available and its overall width. Thanks for any help.

I stopped in at Chief Aircraft when I was in Florida and seen the planes you talk about. I sure wanted to take one back home with me, but with very limited space in our RV my wife said wait & get one latter. If I kill my G202....I know Chief has the ones to get...for sure. Capt,n

My rear intake DLE30 is not quite 6.300 inch from hub face too rear of carb bolt head. With about .800 inch stand-offs I made the hub face is about 4.750 inch from fire-wall. The shorter than stock stand-off are about 3/8 inch shorter. That makes for a better mount I would say over stock. Capt,n
