RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
Got some videos coming soon. They will be unedited just like if you were standing there with us. Blunders and all. May have 4 videos all together. I'm trying to keep them short.

They are Secraft standoffs. I think they are the 35mm ones. I really didnt pay much attention lol. We carry them so I was able to just grab what size I needed.

Tom,
Also July is taken up by the Nationals at Muncie. We may have to take a look at mid August. We can open it up for discussion at the December club meeting.

We will figure something out. First I have to get ahold of the schedule. We'll go from there.
Just forget the Nats and come to our fly In.

Hey Guys
for those of you with the JC 28cc engine, Igot in a bunch of adaptors that allow you to add a single bolt spinner. It threads on the end of the JC Shaft and then has a ... 4/40 size thread I think, for the center bolt.
Anyway, I'll put them on the page soon, but if you need one give me a shout.
www.redwingrc.com/accessories.html will be where they are posted soon

RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
Hi guys, I have a Jc28, I bought it a month ago, its my first gas engine, and its been a steep learning curve.
At first I was running it too rich, now I "think" i have the needles set in the right ball park (ok probably not perfect but close).
out of 3 ltrs of fuel i´ve only made 2 short flights. I´ve been completely unable to get the engine reliable...
I´m currently at a stage where it transitions from idle to full throttle cleanly.. but when it comes back to idle. will drop too low and then after 30 seconds or so recover its idle. (or sometimes stop).
Also some times it will randomly stop on acceleration, or deceleration..
If I adjust the low end needle in either direction even a tiny amount (thickness of screwdriver blade)... I loose what I had and the engine will stop at acceleration or wont idle.
I have been flowing various PDF guides etc but i´m now getting to the stage of looking elsewhere for actual problems rather than just my lack of knowledge.
Today I took the cowel off and found a lot of the area around the nylon block between carb and engine to be wet with fuel.. so i´m guessing there is gas leak and air seaping in from somewhere...
I have re-done all the seals with engine gasket silicon type product I bought... tomorrow i´ll try it again once its dried.
comments, suggestions etc?

Hi Ceecrb1,
Looking at picture 2 it looks like the reed valve body has a hairline crack in it.
So I think you are in the right area with the cause.
If that is the problem then you need the reed replacing. so you ought to speak to the dealer you purchased it from let them take a look.
As you are residing in Spain then I think that will be Antonio at Axar model.

RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
the what looks like a crack is a stream of fuel leading from the gasket infront of it, leading back to the pulse nipple...
That seal is now "siliconed" so will be able to check if that is a hairline crack we see or not.
there was so much buildup around the cylinder gasket that i´ve sealed that too.. will give it all a try... if it works.. will order some new gaskets.

You will need to take a real close look, make sure to eliminate them as cracks.
I have marked up the two possible areas.
You might as well consider replacing the spark plug to NGK or Denso, I think the plug shown is the one supplied with the engine.
When the original one works they work real good but they are a bit hit and miss I have thrown more of them away than I care to think about.

RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
my light is one of these modelers lights with a magnifying glass.. i´ve had a look, now its been wiped clean etc and I cant make anything out.. but it could be like looking for a puncture in a bike tyre, invisible untill used.
I´ll just have to run it up and inspect after its had a few minutes of use... i´d pretty much decided today that come pay day i´m going to order a new reed, gasket set and carb just to make sure. will only come to 50 GBP which aint that much when I think of all the time i´m loosing and putting into this engine.
I KNOW it should run great.. so many people say so many good things about it! I just get the feeling I was unlucky with mine, I know these things do and can happen.

The carb screws need very light pressure. If you over tighten it then you will distort the reed block. That will create leaks.
I think Steve would be a good one to comment on that. He is the first one that I heard bring up the issue.

RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
Hi everyone:
I've been looking at this engine and after seeing it first hand in Bob's Hobby Center in Florida it looks quite good but i just noticed something..
Does this engine have a pump?
Also i'm interested in buying this engine from Tim at redwing for one of the plane's he sells
But if i need parts or warranty for this engine who should I contact?
Cause the persons I talked to in florida said they where the US distributor..??

Night Screamer, I would recommend that you first start with the dealer for warrenty work. If bought through a US dealer they should be getting their motors form Henry as their distrubutor. Some companys get motors other ways. So make sure they are Distrubutor supported. I believe Tim is, but just double check.

But i'm a bit confused is Henry the owner of bob's hobby center in florida as well??
Or are they also another engine distributor and support for this engine?
