flys like my Yak 88 but the 100 feels like it has balloons tied to it. floats a lot!!! im running 2 2300 a123s on a fromeco wolverine ,8711s ,7955 for ailerons programed and on Ys..KISS, a DL100 stock mufflers with 3 gallons on it, Im using a vess 27B at 6800rpm.
it looks so small for the big cowl, can I use a 28B with the stock mufflers??

thats some wicked numbers, id say you should be able to run a 28a at least, not sure about a B, id email vess and tell them what your running and your numbers, he's been helpfull with me in the past, i am curious about other props you have tried myself, try any 27-10? i am hoping to maiden mine this coming weekend, i have a new zdz100, i am putting a 26b on it for break in, but then not sure to go with a 27-10 or try the 27b myself

My DA-100 on SD35% Yak works best with either a Mejzlik 28 - 10 or a Xoar Sword 28 - 10, when I put a Vess 28B on the noise increased to almost intolerable and the performance of the plane seem to decrease. Not as much vertical and not as quick responding. The Swords are painted and look good as well. I like the 28" prop's better than 27 inchers.

i looked at those swords, they do look nice, i thought going to 28 was too much for a 100 unless you had pipes, i will be on stock mufflers, i wish there was a place that let you "lease" with an option to buy, taking estimated guesses can be costly, especially with a cf prop like mejslik, i will see what the 26b does to start with, zdz's like to be free for break in anyway, then i will have to decide what to try after that, those biela props are nice looking with the black and yellow tips, dont know much about them myself though, as far as performance compared to mejslik

the best ones I tried are the vess 27B and menz 27-10, I tried a menz 28 10 but found it too heavy for the engine spools really slow. but hovers pretty easy like a trainer heli with heavy flybar weights
so was thinking a lighter 28B would be really good?? anyone tried a 28B on stock mufflers on a DL100??
I had a old silver zdz100 I only use a 26x10 as it doesnt have the power to spin 27s

I started out with a 27B on mine with a DA-100L with stock mufflers and then after a few tanks tried the 28B and only lost about 200 rpm and it spins it no problem with instant response. I believe the last I checked it was between 6500-6600. I love the prop but may also try the 28x10 Mejzlik this Spring.

thanks for the info, they tell me it can do well with a mejslik 27-10 after break in, i know they like to be "free" compared to some other motors, but i have 2 of the singles and love them so i went with the 100, i'll see what happens as i run it with the 26b, maybe i will try the 27b before spending $90 or whatever for the mejzlik, i did hear menz are good as well, i have a 26-8 menz on my 33%sdyak with a zdz80, its perfect in my opinion, great combo with that setup, its the older 80 not the newer super...have you tried any cf 27's?

if you were to choose a favorite between the menz 27-10 and the 27b, which would it be? does one do something better than the other? like hover, or top speed, anything like that?

If I had to choose between the Menz and a Vess the choice would be easy. An NX 27-10.

I am running a DA 100 on ES composite pipes and spinning a Vess 28A at about 6850rpms. I like the A better than the B. The A seems to slow the plane better on the down lines.
I started out with a Menz 27-10 and then tried a Xoar 27-10. Both of those props were going supersonic in the air and I knew that I had to slow the motor down a little.
The Vess 28B would probably be better for IMAC flying but for all out 3D I will give the 28A the thumbs up.

I am going to order a Mezjlik 28-10 and give it a try also. I talked to Chris at the Huckfest this past year and he told me try a Mezjlik and I would like it.

Myself and two buddies have 35% Yaks with DA-100's, one has stock mufflers, one is running KS cannisters and the other MTW cannisters. All three fly with 28 x 10 props and turn 6200 - 6400 rpm. I can't tell the difference between the sword and the Mejzlik, I have run both. There is also a 35% Extra at our field with a DA-100 and it also uses a 28 x 10 Mejzlik.

Default RE: Extreme Flight 110" 100cc Yak 54 Build!

lots of good info, i guess i will just wait and see what the 26b does for break in, who knows that may end up being my favorite, i just figured if im really ripping it id like to go up to a 27" somthing, im suprised that a 10 pitch is that fast on such a big plane, i think my 8 pitch on my 33% yak is great with the zdz80, fast enough for me to do imac and all that jazz, and slows down nice, i was just thinking on this plane with a 100cc an 8 pitch may be too "flat", pt models makes a 27-8, i may consider that to give a wirl, i think a 28 anything will be too much prop for my motor, these zdz's fall off quick if you go too big on props, at least my 60 and 80 singles did, and mike at rcs even told me they like to run them "free'er", so i think a 27-10 would be the most id try, unless i get one and it rips it, never know, i could have a sleeper under the hood, as far as vess, when i tried a 23a on my 60 it was way to flat, all kinds of rpm's, noise, heat, but not much action, a 23b ended up being perfect, not sure if the same holds true in 26-27 size vess's or not yet

got a few flights in today, no problems at all, only a couple clicks or trim each, very uneventful, tracked great, crazy slow on landing, just need to get some more time on the motor and bring it in lower, did a up high hover and pulled out nicely, so even a new motor with a 26" prop is plenty of power

Anyone use a servo choke in that Yak? There is not much room beside the throttle servo when using cansiters and I was wondering where should i put it?

I didnt use a choke servo but it would not be hard to mount one to the side right be hind the F1 former. That is where I mounted my throttle servo.

Dave glad to hear it went off without a hitch.
