I've got #2 on the way now that the Original scheme is in stock. I wasn't able to get that color on the first shipment so went with red just so I could get one last summer. I don't have room or the money to have them both rtf so if someone is close to OH and wants a good deal on a like new Red arf let me know.

The Chineese painter on QA was sleeping when mine was painted...
The yellow paint on the canopy is already removing by itself and i have not flown it yet? Any suggestions to fix it?

Ok I hope EF will be generous like they did for you Diamondave! Do you know the yellow Ultracote part number ? I would like to seal the aileron gap with the same covering..

with a new sharp exacto blade you can cut out the hinges and prevent bunching up and wrinkles too

I just started using the soldering iron for doing the hinges and servo bays ect. It works REALLY well, and I don't have to change blades every 4 cuts..

i dont know if id use that for the hinges like i did there, knowing me id melt the hinge together, ive heard of that for servo bays and stuff, never tried it, do you use a good iron or get a crapy one cause it will be gummed up for good afterwards? i think once a while ago tbm had a vid of someone heating up a pushrod, holding it with pliers so you dont get burned, then using that to do it

i had some wacky stuff going on last weekend, i wouldnt call it a snap and i hope the plane doenst actually snap as easy as this, i was getting the left wing to drop rather easy on pullouts from loops, and even a slow motion wall being gentle with speed and ele movement, im wondering if my ele are not exactly right, it was droping the wing and almost sliding the tail to the left as well, it was wierd, my rudder is trimmed, i can go through 3 loops in a row with power on and she tracks straight all 3 times, but cutting power and tightening she drops hard...
looking closey, it almost looks like my left ele goes up quicker, and the right goes down quicker...im going to recenter and start all over with them, also, which hole on the horn are you guys using? im on the outer arm hole on servo and the inner hole on horn, thought i needed it that way for max throw, but it looks like 1&1/4 instead of 1&1/2 from hing line, so im thinking of moving to outer hole on horn, i think with atv should be able to get enough throw?

[X(]That is asking for trouble.... I doubt that is what is causing the roll out on loops and walls. If you have 1.5" at the control horn, you should have 1.5" at the servo.

I'd go on the outer hole of the control horn for sure. And lxcoupe the gole is NOT 1.5/1.5 (that's the minimum actually). You should have more distance on the control horn side for better mechanical advantage. I can't believe that you only have 1 1/4" on the horn side with a 1.5" recommended servo arm. You should have more like 1.75" at the horn with the 1.5" arm on the outer hole.

If it's not the elevator servo/linkages causing problems, did you check your stab incidence? I added an incidence meter to my tool box and all my planes will be checked and adjusted from now on. All you do is take masking tape and tape the elevators to center. Then slap the meter on each one to make sure they are both zero. Check the wings too....and firewall.

My 1st giant CAP 232 would do these nice flat spins when I tried to harrier. I looked closely at the linkages and found that I had them on different holes on the control horns....

You could also slap little protractors on your servo to make sure they are both traveling the same exact amount.

it was about 1&1/4 to the inner hole, not the outer, so i will be closer to the 1&1/2 at the outer, and no i did not check incidence, i dont have a thingamagig yet, but during takeoff it only took 2 or so clicks of trim, and a power off downline tracks straight until i pull out, so im thinking its good right? i will redo the linkages to the outer horn, i need to borrow my friends programmer i think too, the left servo is one of those that doenst center exactly, its like 1 tooth off, it took about 25 or so "points" of subtrim to get it centered, that may be a problem also, so with the programmer i can center both of them and reset subtrim and then see what happens, i want to get it fixed for sure cause its a bad habit and i dont want it

The elevators need to track very closely or I'm sure it will do some weird things. Incidence problems would make it do weird things too. It's gotta be straight. Are the elevator horns glued in straight? i.e. they didn't move while curing?

I'd do a reset on the servos while you have them on the programmer.

yeefreekinhaa!!!...okay heres the deal, the fixing i did with my ele(moving to outer hole)made it about 75% better, big improvement, but i still got a snap with a good pull, and a straight stall would drop the left everytime, my buddy had his incidence meter with so we checked it, level and wings were at 0, the left ele was at 0 and the right was .1, he said i could spend all day messing with it and it wouldnt be any better than that, so i moved the cg forward a tad thinking maybe that would help, didnt, so i moved the bat back to the old spot, which is where i liked it for hands off inverted and 45 inverted up lines were perfect, so i started adding more wing tip weight, had almost 2 oz's and was thinking this was as good as it would get, kinda disappointed thinking i had a "snapper" for a plane and id have to deal with it, but my one imac buddy said to keep doing the stalls and add more weight, as long as it doesnt create any other negative action, he had a plane with almost 3 oz's on a wing, so i added some more and eventually it was getting better, sure enough, put one more 1/2oz went up flew around a bit, did a slow motion wall and it was dead nuts straight, no sign of roll or snap, went up and did a straight stall, adding ele as she slowed, nose mushed over and went full ele and it just jently rocked as it lost altitude, those guys called it "leafing", i though it was an elevator...anyway they all said thats what a perfectly balanced plane is supposed to do, did it a few more times to confirm and its absolutly positvely excellent, so the day started out somewhat discouraging and ended up with the most balanced plane ive had yet, in fact, next time i go out with my sdyak im going to recheck that one, ive never had a plane fall so gentle like this one did, awesome

Cool you conquered the problem. Now you can fly the crap out of it.

In elevator it shouldn't do anything pitch-wise. Do you mean wing rocking?

Oh just a bit of wing rock....that's easy to dampen with a touch of opposite aileron. Totally normal IMO. Glad it's all set for you to rock and roll.

Did you ever post pic's of it complete? Edit: Nevermind there are on post #1022.

joe you can be the first to see my new mufflers, just got them today, silent beauty from TBM, my stock ones were close to the cowl, a little too close on the left side i thought, so these are compact ones, almost 3&1/2 ozs lighter too, curious to hear and see what difference, if any it makes

i was purposely not giving aileron during the stall cause i was trying to latterally balance it, so i let it do what it wanted to do, and it was sweet just rocking like that
