Hello hello Maxim good to hear from you, thanks for the info on the high cam point, well my 9 cylinder was turning a 26 x 10 2 blade at 4950 RPMs, after adjusting all the valves clearances I just put on a 25 by 10 3 blade propeller on my Corsair, it is now turning tween 42 and 4300 RPM seems to run well on my trailer have not test flown it with that prop yet though, hopefully this week I will try it, also I religiously use Marvel Mystery Oil to lubricate my rockers

Yes, the engine sounds good. Read carefully, the valve stems where they enter the guides to oil. The corsair looks great!!! -Tom

I also did a compression check on all of the cylinders the lowest compression was 125 to 128 on a couple cyl.s some were 140 and higher, bearings still seem smooth.

I wonder if the higher compression's were on the lower cylinders!

Now I'm curious
how do you check compression ??
I know it's different at my 7-35
It's better when I bite the valve springs

Compression is definitely higher on the lower two cylinders I'm guessing because of the oil??

They make a gauge that measures pressure, and there is a fitting that screws into the glow plug threads, open carb and turn over by hand till the needle stops, gives you the reading, pretty handy.

Ok guys, I need a reliable and trustworthy source of somebody who knows how to diagnose these radial engines, I'm at my wit's end, just doesn't seem to have the power that used to have the push rods have been coming out I have spent four hours readjusting all the pushrods as per the book starts up good and runs consistently went back to my two-bladed 26 by 10 propeller only getting about 4400 RPMs bearings are super smooth and well oiled just doesn't have the power that my 777 has any suggestions on where I can send it to have it looked at

All cylinders had compression checked 125 lb up to a hundred and sixty pounds on bottom two cylinders all the plugs are good and bright, maybe possibly weak valve springs?? Also the cowling is pretty close to the rocker arms like maybe 3 or 4 m m or les from the rocker arms I'm thinking possibly enough to hit the rocker arms causing the push rods to come out in flight?? But that's not explaining the low RPM?? This engine used to have much more power than that and I don't know what has changed

I use large bore silicon tube to the carb keeps the fuel flow right . Are you sue the fuel pipe is not pinched anywhere? Is there air getting though a loose fitting carb? Pressure feed pipe ok? Just thinking aloud...

Yeah thank you for the reply yes I'm using large fuel tubing and I also have a pressure line on my collect ring exhaust, I can say it starts good runs fine just doesn't turn the RPM like it used to I thought maybe rusted Rings or something but it shows and appears to have good compression using my compression gauge guys in the club suggest I use it for a wall mount just kind of disappointing when it used to fly my other Corsair just fine and the old one weighed 6 pounds more

Speaking of taking UMS engines apart: I tentatively tried loosening the screws holding the mount to the back of my 7-35, to gain better access to the carburetor, which I wish to replace. My hands told me there's hard thread locker there, so I didn't actually end up taking anything apart on that first attempt. Any hints? Should I be prepared to use heat for anything I wish to disassemble on these engines?

I wouldn't think heat would hurt anything long as it ain't too hot

Default Running the 9-99

https://youtu.be/kZ_Q4vs_Iv4 just ran this engine tonight, I did take the fuel line off, and found a piece of debree like plastic in the fuel line right before the nipple on the carb??? Maybe that was my problem however, does not explain the push rods coming off in flight, on Wednesday, my other concern was that the cowling is so close to the rocker arms maybe 2 mm or less from the rocker arms, could it have caused a rocker arm to touch and possibly come off because of that?? And my RPMs are still low compared to what it used to run, before like last year, it was turning the same prop 26x10 @ 4800 to 4900?? Same fuel 10% nitro 9% oil ritches brew for theses engines.... What do you guys think??? https://youtu.be/3CeGmCeus0c https://youtu.be/oy1Agz1sv_w
