Yo, I love your handle - great pick. For sure, you've got two of the best planes - if there really IS a "best" when it comes to SIG. Lemme welcome you to RCU and the SIG KadetBrotherhood - gotcha logged here with #163.

Here's the full list of the SIG KadetBrotherhood, as I've got it today (3 columns):

Glad to see I'm not the only old fart out herelol. My dad had 3 O&R 60's 2 23's several GHQ.\'s bantem bruches torps all neat to hear run at reduced spark timing in our celler. Still remember him flying againsr Caral Goldburge at the nats at Willow Grove Navel Air Station in PA.

My Kadet Senior Sport continues to garner interest at the field. Soon, there will be two more !

I had an O and R. A .29, I believe. By the time I got it, it had been stripped of the ignition stuff, and had a glow plug.

Hey Hank!! If at all possible, I will be there. Will bring some of my older birds to play with too, although when you consider it, my MidStar-40 is about my latest-designed bird, so I guess they're ALL older birds.

Thanks, I'm getting a little better with each flight. It is amazing the difference between 30 degrees and 40 degrees of flaps and then 60 degrees.

I've learned a specific power setting with 60 degrees of flaps that lets me fly the plane all the way to the ground without touching the throttle again. I just let it touch down before pulling off any power and hit the brakes. The trick is to know when the wing is going to stall and stay just above that airspeed by adjusting pitch. As an old private pilot I can tell you It is a lot easier to do something like that with instruments as opposed to watching and listening from the outside of the plane.

Because the plane does fly so slow the margin is pretty slim. If I manage the speed right she stays stable but if I let it get too nose high I can see the difference as the slats grab hold and it slows down almost instantly and I start to get tip stalls.

The Magnum 30 is BARELY enough to pull all the extra drag of the slats and big flaps when I fly slow. That power setting I mentioned that lets me fly all the way to the ground with full flaps is almost 1/3 throttle on the Magnum 30 with a 9x5 prop. I would describe the power as pretty close to scale so you have to fly the plane and not count on that notorious power to weight ratio we normally enjoy in order to save my hind parts..

Actually I have ordered just this morning a MACS Muffler for a Magnum 46 I have, new in the box, that I think may just possibly find its way onto this airframe.

Guys.....make a note. A magnum 32 (very good engine) is just not enough when you add a lot of drag to a 25 size airplane.

I am now powered by O.S. 46 size with a MACS Muffler. I won't be able to test it until next weekend though. The week is going to go slow, I can tell already!

And you're running a 3-blade prop!! This is serious power, even being a 46LA, you're talking about - I love it!!!!!

Just out of curiosity, is it a 10x6 3-blade? The engine will easily handle it.

10X7 and I'm counting on the MACS Muffler to give me a little more boost as well.

Did you make it to the paintball gun alley last weekend?

Oh yeah, it certainly will. PBA is 4 October, and all my planes are already picked out to go. Basically, the only thing that ISN'T going is the 2T-1A & MidStar-40.

Talk about great memories!!! The Sig Kadet MKII was the second R/C aircraft I ever built. 35 years ago next month my parents bought me the kit, all needed accessories, OS 35, and a Futaba 4 channel radio for my birthday. Up until then I hand been flying a 1/2a Honker (remember those?), first with a single channel Ace radio, then with a two channel Kraft single stick radio. Between senior year in high school, Civil Air Patrol and girlfriend, I didn't get it finished until June, and only flew it a couple of dozen times before going into the army. Just now getting back into the hobby, and have been thinking about building another with electric instead of gas.

Smart move to go electric. I have a 20 year old KADRT SEIONOR. Using a 4520 SOPRO on 2 3 cell in parl. 3300 ma for 6600 ma. Using a 15x8 prop draws 38 amps flys about 15-20 mins. Wish you luck welcome back to the hobby Florida Beach flyer HANK

Thanks Hank. Let's see.... I understood Kadet Senior, 15x8 prop and 15-20 minutes. I know that the rest refers to an electric motor and batteries, but don't really understand it yet. But I will!!!! Things have really changed in the 34 years since I was last involved in the sport, I mean 18 channel radios!?!?!? Science fiction back in my day. LOL

Oh well, off to browse for info on e-flight. If anyone can recommend some tutorials on this, I would be eternally grateful.
