I'm glad you're flying that plane in the middle of nowhere, at least that way nobody else was going to get hurt. It looks to me like the plane was still tail heavy. Did you see the way it drug the tail around during turns? Classic sign of a tail heavy plane. My guess is this plane also requires a little coordinated rudder for turns as well. Most scale planes do.

Truthfully, a plane that flew like that, should never have been put through those manuvers. It was dangerous to fly in a circle, let along high angles of attack that would force a stall. Looks to me like there were some pretty serious issues with the airframe. Personally, I think it ended the best way it could: as kindling for a bonfire. An airframe that messed up needs to be destroyed before somebody gets hurt.

I'm glad you at least had sense enough to fly it by yourself. If you had brought that to our field, you would have been asked to leave.

I looked at film again
And it may appear to viewer that I was trying to fly wild

That was me for first 4 minute trying to make plane
Fly level

Those were not intentional knife edge or climbing stalls
The plane was just not flying well

Blame the pilot
But I was trying to make plane fly level

It had A tendency to roll to left and to climb

I am glad plane is gone

And show video of appropriate flight

I see a lot of discussion here regarding what to power one of these Decathlon's with.  A lot of you have chosen to go considerable larger than Dynaflite recommends.  Here is a sample of how a real Decathlon flies.  Just food for thought for those building one of these planes:

Unfortunately i "crashed" it few weeks ago.



Gonna make a project, by building new wings.
Fusalage damage is allready repaired.

Maybe gonna make a Helly kitty theme because my girlfriend thought it's a good eye catcher for flight shows.

We tied some ropes around the tree, and start pulling with 6 people!
Eventually she fall out.

The wings were pretty damaged by the fall.

Actually never build a plane, and now gotta build a complete new wing, so it's gonna be excided.
First need to find a new building kit, or just drawings of the wing.
But gonna take my time for it.

What happened to the drawings when you built it ?

What I see in the picture you posted can be used as a reference to make your own drawing.

All you need is the outside outline, the shape of the airfoil and the rib positions.

If it was me I would rebuild the wings as you have them ready to repair.

Hello Zor,

Like i said, never build a plane before.
I actually bought this plane second hand, And didn't get the drawings.

I think it's abit easy'er to build some new wings, then repairing this one.
Even my flying buddy, who build a lot of planes, said it was better to build a new wing,

But like a said, gonna take my time for this "project".
Got "enough" planes for flying this summer.

I am just a fellow who did lots of minor repairs in the early days of radio control.
However I agree thattaking our time in leisure is the right thing to do.

Belgium is a nice country through which I travelled on two trips to Europe.
Once having ferried from England on a boat and another time landing at Shippoll and renting a car.

I did quite a bit of driving in Belgium on my way to Luxembourg and Germany.
Some people in Belgium were asking me what part of France I was from. They said they enjoyed my French accent which of course was from Canada.

J'imagine que vous parlez le Francais et que vous comprenez ce paragraph.
Les gens de la Belgique sont tres affable et sont tres bien eduque. J'ai beaucoup aime mon voyagement dans votre beau pays.

I don't speak french, because i'm actually from the Netherlands!
But like it, that you like belgium. It's not bad here.

I didn't know they speak french in (some?) parts of Canada.

My uncle has bin living in canada for about 6 months, because he met a woman who lives there.


Anyway, Keep ya all updated if there is any progres in my Decathlon.

I tried my French on you. I know we should only talk RC here but this is fascinating.

On one of my trips landing at Schippoll I slept at a bed and breakfst 10 Km from Eindhoven (Phillips headquarters) . Six years later, on another trip I drove to the same B&B place and the lady as soon as she saw my face said "Hey, welcome, you are from Canada, I remember you".

On that same trip another lady in Sacksenkam in Bavaria also remembered me. I can only think that Europeans are super people.

I was in England at Xmas time one year and perhaps you know how England lock itself up at Xmas. Even gas stations were closed and I drove 60 miles on fumes to find gasoline for my car. So I end up in Portsmouth at another B*B I had stayed before. Knock on the door, more knocks, still more knocks, I can hear laughing inside.
Finally the door opens and a lady I recognize from a few years before has a sad looking face that quickly change to a grreat smile. Come on in she says and I was welcome in the celebrations and stayed there for four nights while travelling the vicinity with my rented car.

Let us know how you are coming along with your model.

You are right, 20 to 30 MPH crosswinds warrant risking far more easily replaceable ARF"s whilst mastering this feat.
