SE.5a 1/5 Scale build
Been too long since I built a kit. I recently got the itch again and bought a kit of a SE.5a. It is based on the plans drawn by Rich Uravitch and the kit cut by The Aeroplane Works. It has a 75" wingspan. I have not managed to find any build posts for this kit here on RCU so if anybody has any pointers to additional information I will be grateful.
I am not planning on doing a full-blown scale effort as I am no artist. I will be doing it based loosely on a civilian plane used in the 20's for sky writing and banner towing. Yes, it will have smoke and banner towing capability. It will be for relaxed flying.
I will post some pics here and on my website soon.

Some progress. I have built the 2 fuselage sides and will continue when I have the Saito 180 in hand to determine firewall placement. Here are some pics:

I built the dynaflite version of this great WW1 biplane, I have flown it very little but it flies really smooth, here is some part of the thread related on my building:

Even that is a quite different kit the final product is great. Mine is a fun scale kit, yours is a more accurate scale kit.
Enjoy your build and enjoy your flights.
Best regards.

RE: SE.5a 1/5 Scale build
Thanks for your kind words Pat.
Even that it has flown and it flies very gently I am still interested on bringing a bit down the upper wing. The procedure is simple as I see, I will glue some hard wood blocks in the lower side of the upper wing part (where cabane struts attaches) once that I have cut the cabane struts at the desired lenght. I will use the robbart incidence calculator, which I acquired for that purpose (even that I have also used now for many other planes and for two helicopters).
Cheers Pat.
Alfred.
