RE: Bernard Dumas' Canadair CL-215
I spent the last 2 days in front of my pc screen designing all the decals, ( Greek ones ) that the plane
has around and after I transferred them into the plane's scale, I cut them with a Vinyl Cutter .
Fortunately I have available to me a ...Good... Old Roland Vinyl Cutter so ,
all this process does not cost me anything .
The vinyl decals are more in number because they are for 2 planes ... my CL 215 and the CL 415 of my friend , pappy.

I do not think most modelers understand how much reaserch and design go into the entire model design. On some models I am working on the documentation collecting hour have out weighed the design time! I was going to do a CL-415, but I am going to opt for the Dornier CD-2! It ais a sweet looking amphibian.
Again your work is excellent, I have learned so much from the various giant scale scratch builders on this site! Thanks for sharing!!!!!

George did, does and will do an excellent job!!!
Ihave to admit that we kinda make a hell of a team!!!
Itake pics of the planes and the details as well as measuring them and he scales them down!!!!
When i first started to build my CL-415 some 9 months ago i was browsing around and luckily i dropped on this subject!!!
2 people building the same plane (almost!!) in the same town!!!
Ilost count on how many times working together we came up to solutions and solve numerous problems.
I dont remember any more how many times during night - very late- we phoned each other (more from my side!!!).

Hello Andres ...
Welcome to our group. I am glad to know that one more fellow decide to build the CL.
I have not enough time to work on CL due to my job and family...[sm=cry_smile.gif]
After I finished the mold (as you can see in earlier post) I left the construction of the water tank for the end...
Plans ?... Yes, I have, but not written down...
You'll see photos after I will finish the whole construction of the water tank...
This period with the little time I have, I'm trying to finish the glassing .

Cool pic... Yes.. But very bad situation.
The fire was huge and the CLs were flying consecutively for five days.
That's why I "lost" my friend Pappy for a month now... He works as a mechanic on CLs.
( Pappy...που είσαιιιιιιιιιιιιι ?????[sm=cry_smile.gif][sm=cry_smile.gif][sm=cry_smile.gif])

George had some personal problems lately and the project stopped.
Soon he will be back. The plane is already planked and smoothed. It is ready to be glassed.
Stand by for further action in this thread!!!

Happy New Year to everybody........( though it is rather late for that )......
As " pappy69 " mentioned above , some personal problems kept me away from my
construction for a quite a long time.....
Lately I have slowly restarted constructing the Canadair , so I will keep you posted
about the next stages of the construction .
Don, Thanks for your kind words .

RE: Bernard Dumas' Canadair CL-215
...Recently (when I had free time ) , I did the final finishing of the Main Gears.
When , quite a long time ago , I had made the aluminium parts , (post 168 to 173)
the procces had been proved time consuming and painful experience
( it took me about 4 - 5 months ) , because as I had already mentioned ,
my machines ARE NOT cnc .
So when the Main Gears took their shape and turned out to function properly , I quit
dealing with them .
You can see them in the 2 pics as they looked after the initial proccesing .

RE: Bernard Dumas' Canadair CL-215
The idea of constructing the arms of the upper gear leg using Fully Threaded Rods
was really good , because that makes possible a micrometric adjustment by rotating
the rods , in a way that the whole construction works flawlessy .
Thanks to Dumas designs , the mechanism which locks the upper locking/unlocking
system , to " open " position was constructed and it works perfectly ,as long as you
calculate precisely the holes and cuts .
....That I learned the hard way , because I had to make the top parts .....twice......[:@]

Once finished with the hull sheeting, I decided to remove some nose formers
and roof stringers (just behind the cockpit).
This will not create a structural problem, as the fuse will be reinforced with glass,
which is not covered in the original plans.
