If the engine has a removeable front housing, like some of the older Super Tigers, you can rotate the front housing 90 degrees in the direction the engine currently rotates and the engine will run backwards. Same concept with a rear induction engine. Otherwise a reverse rotation crankshaft is required.

Hi!
I can assure you that one engine that turns in the opposite direction isn't needed on a twin.
OS has cams for their four strokes that makes the engine turn in the opposite direction though.
I use two OS .FS26 four strokes in my DC-3 below...both turning 3-blade, 10X5 carbon fiber props counter clockwise.

Cool...another .26 user!! I have flown twins with .26 and .91 4 strokes both turning the normal direction...there are no problems operating them that way.
If you do get a reversed rotaton engine, you would have to use a pusher prop on it, and they are very very limited in selection.
In the absence of a real compelling reason to have them turn in opposite directions, it is simpler, easier, and cheaper to use two off-the-shelf engines turning the same direction....

Being new to planks and haveing no knowledge about twins . I had heard someone else say counter rotating engines redeuced the torque on thier electric twin. I now see many other problems in haveing CR engines and besides the "koolness"of seeing them in actin will not worry about it anymore. Reverse props and all that headache,,good info,,, and thankyou for educating me. Happy Holidays,,,manysmart people here THANKS,,,

Years ago I had a pair of ENYA .45's that were set up to turn in the Opposite direstion.
I used them in the Royal DC-3, Beech Barron, They worked Very Well.
