Default Budget buggy!

I am trying to find the best buggy for under or close to $290. I am just a basher so there is no need for a race worthy ride. I have my mind set on two right now but am open to suggestions. Thanks for any info

Here's what I suggest...go out and buy the December 2007 issue of Raido Control Car Action, they just did a buggy shoot-out of 8 1/8th scale buggies under $300 and evaluated each one and thier differences....they really didnt give the shoot out a winnre....But, it will point you into the right direction on what your goals are...

Osirisf16 ....dont take this the wrong way but the guy said.......

You clearly listed 2 buggies in the $400 plus range and that really wont help.....a bash worthy buggy in my eyes....just my opinion....is an XTM XT2, and it can be found real cheap and the XTM 247 motor provides plenty of power and simple to tune...the OFNA LX One isnt bad and can be tuned to rip but I found them to be some what brittle...especially in the rear toe-block....that .28 in there is just to much.....not familiar with the Robo due to I've never seen one run.
The TQ Sport is solid and a good runner....Here's one you may seriously want to take a look at....The TTR runs a .21 motor, plenty of power and excellent run times...take a look

That is kit only, he'd still need to buy engine and radio. It is a good buggy though.
Best budget buggy is the hyper 7 and can be had for around that price with a little searching.
Anything less isn't worth it IMO

The new duratrax Raze (well, it's not new, but it was just updated with a stronger steering servo and some other new stuff) is a great budget buggy. Goes for $280 on ebay brand new RTR. That or the Thunder Tiger EB-4 S2, OFNA Ultra LX-One, or XTM XT-2. All of them are about equal if you ask me. The Raze even looks like a close copy of the Hyper-7 if you look at the chassis pics in the magazine article mentioned above. If you do get the Raze be sure to get the updated model and not the left overs of the last version.

I agree with articCat, get the thunder tiger! It is super fast, and those engines run great and are easy to tune.

The Robitronic Protos is a well built buggy , it can take the abuse of bashing and is a good racer also . I would seriously consider getting this . And for all the people that are going to bash this , the towers hold up just as good as any aluminum towers . But they do make their own aluminum upgrades for it in case you want to upgrade it .

I have an ultra lx one right now and I think it is pretty tough. I am not at all easy on it and have only broke a couple little things. This is definately a good choice.

I would go with the protos. It is built really well and I have a robitronic mantis too and they are extremely durable and do not break. The new issue if RC Car Action has a test of all budget buggies and in the end when they rate them the protos is one of there favorites for all of the drivers. I had a Ultra LX One and hated it. Just like the other guy said it is very brittle and kept breaking and bending stuff.

Thanks for all the suggestions and this is what I am getting so far-

Ofna Ultra LZ one
Protos- OK
Hyper 7- a little to much for the budget, but will keep searching.

Looks like I also need to pick up the latest RC Car Action mag..

I looked at that a few days ago, but I just couldn't find a place to get parts so that is off my list.

You definitely want a buggy that your LHS carries or can order parts for .

Yup, I order everything off-line (except for fuel) and I don't like thunder tigers parts support.

I think I am leaning a little more on the Protos. Seems to be the toughest and best performer (with my budget).
