Personally... I think its kinda creepy to see some 10+ model holding an rc car. It makes me feel sorry that she has lowered herself to selling a toy (or traxxas). Kinda like those models that are payed to stand around at nerd conventions, poor girls.

When I see a hot woman, buying an rc car is the last thing on my mind.

I think "hot women" will always have a place in the world and will always be used as a marketing tool but beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Thus the oxymoron "pretty ugly"!

Example: Troy Built Models is always displaying this one skinny gal with a lime green padded top ( for obvious reasons ) in the most gawd awful contorted pose. I do not personally find this attractive in any way,shape,or form.

There are many advertising ploys and gimmicks. Beauty,bizzar,ugly, etc. Notice that I have associated TBM with the skinny,contorted,unattractive girl but the add has achieved it's purpose. I remembered the TBM product add.


I would however say that I prefer "classy" over "hot".

No, they do not. I go shopping for what I need or if I have enough cash, what I want. Always do my research first. Best product for the application is determined by me, read product reviews, check prices, and so on.

To be perfectly honest there are a couple of RC magazines that I won't purchase because of their penchant for placing less-than-modestly dressed young women on the cover. Companies that depend on using models (the walking, talking kind) to hype their sales lose a lot of respect as far as I'm concerned. Makes me wonder what they're trying to hide.

Give me a good product, honestly marketed and you've got yourself a customer. Try to market mediocre crap behind an attractive face and figure and you won't.

Hot women make me want to do a lot of things but buying RC products isn't generally one of them. But still, like others have said it can make an ad more memorable and therefore the product more recognizable. Advertisers in all their forms have been using sex appeal for hundreds of years, obviously it works.

You look at it longer and when you need a part the brand will pop into your head faster so there is a higher chance you will purchase from them.
Usually works on me till I see those places prices, than I start looking elsewhere
But for the people too lazy to look, or not patient enough to wait for parts they will make a sale.
