hi guys
yes i'm new too. you guys are COLD???? i don't think i'll ever have those kind of body crack problems over here...

tamiyacrawler, i've done what you did (and the other dude) and got a Speed Stocker motor from Tower. looking forward to getting it! btw are those mashers I saw in your photo? are the green shock springs? getting some too. might need them for the jumping i'm planning...

i cracked the read chassis plate on my evader ST on saturday - i think it was from crashing headfirst into a wedge ramp at the skate park....maybe i will stay clear of those concrete jungles for now...
anyone here from BrisVegas?

hey humphrey - do you get your parts over here or get them in from the US?

nice work with the mods everyone!

Hey I am new to this forum. i have an evader BX and i want it to go faster. So any reccommendations on a new motor and some other parts i may need to run with the new motor. I wasn't looking to spend any more then $100 or so but I don't know how much motors or anything are so I might have to adjust my limit but just show me some reasonable priced motots

Thnx

What setup do you have now? Is it stock and is it the pro? How much faster do you want to go? What batteries are you using? The faster you want to go the more it will cost you.

I took everyone's advice and went with a Reedy Quad 19T motor. That alone had much more punch than the stock Pro's 15T Havoc. Combine this with a 7-cell pack and this thing flies. I recently tried a 23T pinion and it is downright uncontrollable. So, the above motor and pack upgrade alone ($45 motor, ~$35-50 pack) is an awesome upgrade.

Ok, most of you use velcro to lock battery, but you have cutted holes in the graphite chassis. This may weaken this part, I think. although I found the original locking bar very boring.

That is a good setup as long as he has a pro. If not he will also need to upgrade his esc which he can and still be under $100.00. When I run on the street I use GP3700, 7 cell and a 23 tooth pinion, street tires and a method R 19 X 2 motor and it's fast, like Grimdeath's it's almost too fast.

Has anyone here gotten their Evader faster than 42ish mph? I think that's the highest I've heard to date with a BL setup.

I didn't get any answer on my earlier question about batteries though. How much speed do you guys think I'll gain by switching from a sports pack Team orion 3000mAH to an IB3800 from BoomBoom? (setup: evader pro BX, geared 88/21, orion Revolution modified 12x2, current speed 28mph). I'd rather have conservative estimates based on experience so I don't get my hopes up for nothing...

Dang, so can someone explain why is my setup so slow? Shouldn't I get higher speeds than 28mph with that motor and gearing? (motor is timed at 18 degree)
It can't be a bad cell because I have 2 packs to try and they both perform equally and peak at 8.8-8.9V.
My bearings are all fine and lubed well (front wheels freespin for 1mn+), tranny is smooth and freespin for about 5s, all connectors are deans.
Is my speed normal or what? I keep hearing people get in the 30s with lesser motors and I'm dumbfounded...

what kind of esc do u have u might need to set it up diffrently

edit

it might be that orion motor i bought a couple of orion method motors 11t

and they were crap one burnt up when i was breaking it in(the bushing was installed wrong) and the other burnt up on my first run
they are diffrent then the one u have but could be your motor still

It also occurs to me to ask how are you measuring the speed of your truck?
Timing it, gps, radar, something else????
Also, and I'm not trying to cast aspersions, but how accurate are the speed figures that other are quoting?
You may be where you should be and just be talking "apples and oranges".
Just a thought.
Be glad when I get mine back up and running so I can do some testing.

That's not quite true. When I switched from cheap 7 cell packs (t.h.) to the GP3700's I gained about 5 mph (in a boat). The better batteries will help with performance as well as longer run times.

I just have the regular Evader BX (not pro). Everything is stock other then the servo. I would like it to go at least 5-8 mph faster. I am using 1500 Mah batteries.

I have a question bout my bateries also. They used to run a good 10 min. or so. But now they only last bout 3-4 min. Is this because they are so old? Or is something wrong with them?

I just checked my method 21 X 2 motor with a 23t pinion and 7 cells, 34 mph! It may be a cheap motor but it hauls (lol).

true2blue92. Good batteries are not cheap. This one area you can't really skimp on and expect your truck to perform right.

I think sumthin is broke? I was driving my evader and all of a sudden it started making this really loud clicking noise. So I took everything apart and the tranny was cracked on he side. So is that the problem? ALso bout how much are new ones.

3 bucks... and yes thgat is the problem...
When putting the bearings in you might need to use a whole bunch of nickles stacked on top f eachother and a hammer to get the bearings in...
