Just a find.http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXAZUP&P=7
Tower bumped up the prices of the sidewinder sv2 so i thought this is a replacement. Its 4 poles!
And on the Dtx website it says by castle. Its basically a sidewinder sct which can run on 3s.

Double post!!!
So i got my parts today and my spur still wobbles a bit. Enough for it to touch the gear cover. Its just the stock spur (88t) and so far i changed the slipper plates and top gear. The slipper pad is also properly seated. The top gear was also a huge PITA to put the bearings on.
I also made a spoiler from some spare plastic from a pc speaker set... It looks pretty good actually. I would like my ext to look a bit like a truggy. I will post pics once its painted because if i took a pic now, you wouldnt see it.

What cheap lipos should i get?
I probably am just going to get one.
Im just asking because i want to get something that i know will fit in the battery tray. I have the ext2 strap and esc mount and im getting a lipo alarm.
Im still brushed for now, but when the motor dies im going to get a cheap ezrun. I would like 2s around 5000mah and 30c+ is preferred. Budget is $25, cheaper is better.

So you had an EXT that you put the bearings in? I put them in mine too and that top shaft was a bear. Ihated that spring pin. I had the wobble that you are talking about on my slipper too. I thought at first, the wobble came from the pressure plate but I concluded that Iwas bending the top shaft driving the pin in and out with a drift punch.

I got to the point where the wobble drove me nuts. Could not keep the gear mesh correct. Kept messing up spur gears. And that wobble. That was notgoing to be on my truck. That's why Ireplaced the whole gearbox with the RC10B4. They sellem' for 25 -40 bucks on ebay. It was a super upgrade. The top shaft has a flat side machined on it and that's how the pressure plate is secured.

My kid has an evader too. His gearbox is going in the can. Ibought an Associated gear diff for him. Gear diff has less maintainence. . . .

I prototyped motor mounts with a nylon cutting board, but I'm thinking my try will be with 1/4' AL plating.

Just a thought.Good luck.

I got the GENSAce 7.4 4000 MAH LIPO (hard case) from hobbypartz.com. It put my 8.4 5000 MAH NIMH to shame.

Its' a great batt. Just make sure your ESChas a LIPO LV cutoff.

http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-30c-40...-hardcase.html

or you can spend 7.00 more and get 5300 MAH LIPO .. .

Both 30C

Good Luck

I have the 5300 your better with the 4000 the center plg on the 5300 for the balance tap wire when you plug it in it's in the way for the battery strap down... what i had to do is drill a hole in the strap down and after you put the pack in you then can push the tap wire through the hole you make in the battery strap and into the battery pack....
This is why the 4000 would be better no fuss just plug and play.

because that 5300 Gensace pack has removable banana plugs 3 of them the big + & - with 2 tap wires in it and the 3rd in the center of the pack you push it in the jack and it can't be used with any battery strap that goes over the packs center.... enless you drill a hole in it where the batterys banana plug gets pushed in like i did so you strap it down like normal then you can now push the 3rd banana plug in through the hole you made in the strap and down into the batteries jack...
You get it now?

Actually i charge lipos in my custom made Lipo charge alarm system.. (NIMH battery shown in unit because no lipo was on hand)

You put your lipo battery in it with the top sliding shelf with a copper electrical plate over the pack that's wired up to a 9V battery and a 90DB buzzer and to the adjustable rod going down above the top plate so you can set the hight for different lipo packs.

How it works you put the pack in the unit and put the plastic coper plat shelf over the pack and set the rod hight by top aligator clip so it's just above the coper top plate...
Now lets say something goes wrong and your lipo starts to puff getting ready to burst into flames as soon as the pack puffs up the slightest little bit the copper shelf plate will rise and hit the contact rod causing the circuit to close and make the buzzer go off so you can hear it take the pack off charge and do the proper thing to stop a lipo from further catching fire.

Pretty slick ha

You do when using a lipo low voltage cut off system that plugs directly into the balance tap..... and also i said to do this mod because you don't want to just leave the wire dangaling around with the small banana plug on the end getting all dirty and messed up.

You do when you have to charge your pack and if you leave it dangling around it will get eaither cut up and definitly coroded from dirt.... and you also need it plugged in when using a lipo LVC alarm that plugs straight into the balance tap.
I am not arguing with you teens.. I have the smarts to make the unit for lipos above I think i know what's the right thing to do here.

..................... O and before you say you can cover the end of the banana plug and tie it down to something... well lets just say it's way simpeler to plug it were it belongs in the battery!

The less you plug them in and out the better they contact and work...Simple

not arguing, just pointing out that not all lvcs use the balance port and not everybody uses the included adapter. i put bullets on my esc. i see why you suggest that mod, its just not applicable to everybody.
