RE: vintage rc official old school thread
My RS4MT and Bullhead both I suppose are discontined. I got so lucky and got a bullhead brand new at my LHS.
The Bullhead I have not even completed all the way, but I did run it and it's a blast to drive.

RE: vintage rc official old school thread
here are my oldskool trucks! the build clodbuster is mint never even run i had it from new, it has the chevy badges and a few upgrades such as a teu-103bk esc, this was a bit of a pain to connect as i still wanted the power/economy switch to work sorted it out in the end. it has a metal steering servo, a half inch lift kit, super clod internal chassis brace, esp external chassis brace, metal bearings, and a rare as anything tamiya flashing unit.
the NIB clod buster is a 1990 one without the chevy badges, when i bought it a few months ago it was still wrapped in its heat shrink so i had to open to make sure it was all there! phew.. i know this knocked a bit off the value but it would of bugged me not knowing.
then most recently the NIB bullhead, this is gettinga a few upgrades but im not sure weather i want to display it built or as a kit, upgrades are going to be metal beaings, metal servo for the steering, lift kit, and 2 tamiya flashing units for the front.
all i need now is a super clod and i have all 3 NIB. my collection is complete.. apart from my NIB lunchbox(gold) and NIB metalic pumpkin

RE: vintage rc official old school thread
The only belt driven vechicle I have the RS4 MT. My last memory of Bobby Howell(owner of the hobby center)
which he got out of the hobby shop bussiness and no longer has a hobby shop, except online. Golfland gets most
of my money now for tires and other things, since its the only Hobby shop I've got, but Golfland has another
hobby shop as they have expanded, Xtreme Hobbies/Golfland owner Robert Kuegel.
MIP shiny cvds are on the truck, along with Proline Masher 2000 tires(rock crawling I guess)...
This truck has been discontinued a while back and parts are still easy to get.
It's not a runner but a shelfqueen memory of the Hobby Center.

Could anybody please point me to any links that would have info about varicom silver fox gold edition which i think later turned into vanning/kyosho. I acquired one of these buggies a long time ago to find out it was a collector the motor and buggie are new(never run) motor is still in the box. I just recently came back online and was considering selling but I might just keep it depending on it's vintagenessness [*] [*] [*]

Yeah I'll have to do detailed searches in google i tried a few years ago and never found any real good info there just wasn't a whole lot out there. Thanks for a promt response I now know i can talk to the world with this old beater pc. I have just recently gotten back into rc from a long vacation. I bought a robotronics mantis, what a piece of s@#t although the truck could be possesed or the real truth, which is I forgot how much of a pain in the ass these things are(nothings changed). but I'm determined and once it's dialed in it'll be fun.

RE: vintage rc official old school thread
hello.. i dont know if this is where i should ask about this or not, but i was wondering if anyone can tell me anything about this sprint car that i have recently acquired. i am always trading with people on rcu and in my local area, and when i was out trading with someone today i noticed he had this in his shed, and he threw it in for free.
the motor is an os, and it says CZ on the side of. it doesnt mention a size or anything like that. its in decent shape, but it needed alot of cleaning/ lubrication. there were a few rusted screws here and there, but i was able to replace them from the vast amount of excess screws that i have collected since being in the hobby.
anyway, as i was saying, any info would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

I've got a question as well. I'm rebuilding my old Traxxas Bullet. I've already rebuild the shocks and gear case. I've either lost or broken the original servo saver over the years. I'm assuming a newer model servo saver can easily be adapted? I'm kind of excited to get the old buggy running again. A lot of good old memories.

its a rc 10 conversion all the parts on it are rc10 buggy parts but its on a custom sprint car chassis these were verry commont kits back in the day and several companys still make rc10 sprint car conversions

RE: vintage rc official old school thread
Here is my vintage/old school rc. It is a Tamiya Falcon made around 1984, I think. I am the second owner, I bought it in 1992 and it was still in mint condition. That was until I bought it (LOL). Since then it was been rebuilt 3-4 times. After the last rebuild (1996) it has sat on a shelf in my room. And Yes that is the original painted body that I got with the car when I bought it.

RE: vintage rc official old school thread
Although I do have a thread on here devoted to this car, I thought I'd add to this one anyway.
The pictures show my 1987 PB Mini Mustang that I have had from new and used to race back in the late 80's, just before real cars took over all my time. It was a replacement for a Tamiya Ford Ranger (the original SRB based one), which came after a Holiday Buggy. It was then consigned to the attic, before I dragged it down a few months ago, bought a new battery and got it running again.
The car is 4WD, with a single belt that runs from front to rear and loops round the drive pulley that is on the same shaft as the spur gear. Mine came with a neat 2 speed gearbox based on a centrifugal clutch that worked really well apart from the fact that it could not reverse. It was therefore no good for racing, so it has been run single speed most of the time. The kit was complete with ball bearings except for the belt idler/tensioner, but I got a metal replacement with bearings when I built it. Suspension is double wishbone all round with large bore (for the time) plastic shocks, but the rears were replaced with RC10 gold shocks as they were the best available at the time. I went through several types of front dogbone driveshafts before finding some that had hardened universal joints at the outer end and therefore didn't pop out under stress. Radio gear was the Acoms out of my old car, with a Futaba FPS148 servo and a Demon ESC. I had several motors, including a 27 turn Demon stock, a Demon "HT" and a Demon triple 17T, which is what I am running now.
Since getting it going, the old ESC gave up the ghost and has been replaced with a new Mtroniks RV11 and the radio gear range gradually decreased, so it was replaced with a newer Futaba set that I won on ebay. I have broken a shock tower, but have a reasonable amount of spares left, so that wasn't a problem. I have also now worn out the original tyres, so it has some second hand rears on it (Yay, ebay!), but not a lot of grip on the road.
I'm now just having fun with it, as the video here shows:
