we took mine out for another spin today, the missing spring wasnt a huge issue and two more will arrive in the mail by monday. we rolled it a few times. one of the screws that hold the tail cracked, so superglue time for me too! i wish i could figure out 100% why sometimes it goes into reverse when i attempt to go in reverse and sometimes it seems to do it on its own, or WAY after i attempted to reverse it. i took some video and want to post it. how do i?

just bought another Tamiya kit yesterday! (Metallic Pumpkin! -and gonna get a Lunchbox frame and mounts too and have both bodies, cause they both rule!), and all the needed parts for my Hornet. the springs should come today. but i cracked a screw in the tail, which i solved with a washer, not superglue. not as elegant but works. and took it out to the beach for a spin and then cracked the plastic part that holds the wheel - the little gold knob that attaches to it from the servo, snapped the end of the plastic off. i ordered a new pair with the Pumpkin order. but i couldnt get it in the other hole and didnt want such tight steering. in hindsight i wish id asked if anyone knew a METAL alternative to that part? may still want to order it. the plastic one is fickle and not very tough.

also i made a QT video of some driving but wanted to know if there's any other way to post it than youtube?

i also set up my "field box" or pitstop box - an old tool box that fits all my stuff and i tossed some extra sponsor decals on for authenticity! I am psyched to have another coming so i have someone to drive with and cause they're tons of fun to build.

oh and i also bought the metal bearings for the hornet throughout. and a 1900 battery. gonna see how that improves things before buying a sport tuned. i want them both decked out with the most durable parts eventually so they last. i want to weed out the weak parts early!

so does anyone know a metal replacement for the front upright where the ball connectors attach? looks like my new kit uses the plastic one too. getting the ball connector to screw in there smoothly was tedious and it ultimately cracked off!

you can use vimeo.com to post videos too instead of youtube.

Boy, that dirt in western CT is strange. My Hopper was caked with red colored dirt last night. Cleaned up pretty well, reattached the broken tail again as well

Still got battery life in the CR and the Hopper. Never ending batteries!

here's the damage. i got the new springs in the mail so i put on the replacement. glad thats done. but not sure how to fix this tail issue. the whole center there was weak and flimsy and tore out on a roll. so i tried a washer, but it looks like a cheap repair. ideas? also, the piece that cracked off on the front wheel holder - ordered a new set today. i dont want to move them to the inner holes, steering wise. i wish there were metal ones. i also ordered metal bearings to replace all the bushies. and a 1900 amp battery.

Repair update!

krazy glue, some washers of various sizes, and a plastic hobby knife to the rescue. wedged in a large silver saucer along the bottom/cracked-off side and then a pair of smaller black washers on top for cosmetic unity and extra strength. will find out if it all holds together the next time out. waiting for the new front tire mount. i also put a picture up of my replaced springs and happy rear suspension. i think it even looks badass with the tail off...

hey everyone... I just bought a hornet.. actually my first rc build.. but i'm a quick study.. i think.. anyway I was trusting the guy at the store to hook me up with the right stuff... so I'm halfway complete with the build and I'm testing electronics... well I have a cirrus 3cfm receiver, TEU 101bk speed controller, cirrus servo, and piranha 3000 battery... anyway I cannot figure out what to do with the 2 prong battery plug in the speed controller.. the receiver doesnt seem to have a spot for it.. as is, if I plug everything in according to the directions (battery plug not connected to anythying).. the light on the speed controller will blink once, then keep blinking... any clue what I have to do to get my electronics to work right?

I could post links to pictures if that would help anyone identify the problem. Thanks guys!! Once I have it together I will definitely post pictures.

The battery plug can be plugged into any opened slot in the receiver to provide power.. (usually go to the BEC slot or the battery slot) Make sure that you got the polarity correct..

Once you have that, you will need to do a setup (follow the instruction for the TEU-101) to calibrate the end point of your radio, and you will be all set!
