ok soo.. figured out a few things... my original servor is F'd up from crashing so i replaced it today... also have new offroad front and back tires.. let me tell you.. wow! what a difference, I cruise through grass!!!!.. attached picture is only the chasis as the body is in the shop.. lol.. paint is drying.. I did go back to the original body.. i didnt like the convertable look to much.. so now that the steering is fied and I have new tires I can once again flip it at will by turnign to sharply haha.

The venom 19d aftermarket engine makes a HUGE difference in speed.. i switched them out to compare with new tires... not even close. best $20 you can spend on an upgrade i think. battery doesnt last as long though.. obviously..

hope you're having a good night! later.

So either the TEU-101 is very under rated or the Venum does not pull much current...

Lunchboxer - I'm looking at the tires on the yellow hornet and I think I know what those are. The is a certain type of O-ring called a Quad ring or quattro seal. It's basically an o-ring with 4 lobes. It looks to me like someone cut those rings and glued them to a set of old worn down Hopper tires. I have access to a bunch of those types of rings so i'm going to give this a shot.

Hey guys... Just an update in case anyone cares .. lol.. I replaced the fireball 19d with a speed geny 13t and a new speed controller to match.. Lets just say it is totally fast!!! I have 3 sets of tires I rotate using but I find the original tires are the most fun and all purpose.. with the engine upgrade it is fast no matter which tires are on it. Oh yeah.. and I learned your suppose to "burn in" new motors... silly me.. I kind of ruined the fireball motor. Well live and learn.. I hope to put a new custom paint job truck body on the hornet and then I will be done with upgrades... then on to the next project!

Unless another colour really grabs my attention when I go to pickup paint, it will be a box art black Hornet.

I took the Hopper out about 6-7 times this week down in PA on some Little League baseball fields. It was some gritty sandy dirt and it took a toll on the those Sand Paddles. I'd say a few more runs and I'll be running on slicks in the back!

Took a few minutes to get a hang of modulating the throttle on such loose grit over the hard pack. The car just wanted to do donuts. It was funny letting my wife try it. The only was she could go straight was if she went in reverse. After I got the hang of it I could basically drift around the entire diamond since it was so loose. Fun times!

Have you ever tried the Hornet's spike tires?! I wonder if those would work better in the sandy dirt??

No idea....

The type of sand was like sandpaper. They'd probably turn into little nubs in no time. The spikes work well in regular semi-packed dirt. The paddles weren't too bad, just no match for sandpaper, plus I like them for the beach. They did throw nice rooster tails on the baseball field and at the beach previously.
