RE: Futaba 9C and Realflight
I'm traveling and don't have the cables that originally came with the program.
Is the cable I want supplied with the program?
Do you use it, and does it work?

RE: Futaba 9C and Realflight
The program includes two cables that will allow you to connect "most" radios through the InterLink Controller and to use that radio to control the flight of the models on-screen.
It has been suggested to remove the crystal from the radio to avoid potential damage to the radio. Some people feel that running your radio with the antennea retracted for long periods of time runs the risk of damage.

RE: Futaba 9C and Realflight
Thanks for the reply.
The 9C doesn't have a crystal, so I'm assuming you don't actually use it either.
I was hoping for a 9C user so I can order what I need while here in Arizona.
Take care
Bob

RE: Futaba 9C and Realflight
Bob, you may want to ask your question on the KnifeEdge site. That's where most of the computer nerds and X-Berts hang out. They may know of an alternative to the "supplied" cables.

Umm, one other thing Bob. In the requirements section of the program you'll notice that it calls for a "Compatible FM or FM-selectable transmitter" ... that would indicate that a crystal is present in the radio.
Multiplayer Requirements:
Broadband Internet connection
Computer microphone for voice chat
InterLink Elite Controller:
USB Port
Compatible FM or FM-selectable transmitter (if using the interface mode)
Note: The connectors on the InterLink Elite cord and included adapters make the InterLink Elite compatible with the trainer jack on most Futaba® and all JR®, Spektrum® and Tower Hobbies® systems. Special adapters for use with most older Futaba and Hitec® systems are available separately.

There IS a crystal in the module on the back of your Futaba 9C transmitter.

RE: Futaba 9C and Realflight
Thanks for the clarification.
I understand that the module has a crystal, I was more trying to say that the crystal isn't fixed in the transmitter.
When I get back home I'll see if I still have the cables that were supplied with the original program.
I was just hoping to order them so they would be waiting when I got there.
I found this on Tower, but the last sentence in the Tech Notes is a bit confusing to me?
I'll go to the Knife Edge site this morning too.

RE: Futaba 9C and Realflight
Hi bob_nj,
The cable supplied with the Realflight package is a 2 piece cable with the Futaba square micro connectors on the ends. There is a male/female 1/8" plug set about 8" from one end, this allows the cable to be split in half to allow connecting the interlink controller to a JR transmitter
Pete
OK, I looked at that link, something is real wrong here. What they show is only the 8" part of the cable. you need the whole 2 piece cable to go from a Futaba transmitter with micro connector to the interlink controller. I'd give them a call them on this one[:-]

RE: Futaba 9C and Realflight
Thanks
Guess I'll have to get home before I can figure out what I really need.
Looks like no one on the Knifedege site uses a 9C either.
Happy Holidays
