don't know anyone with one. but I know that they are 2wd not 4wd..some of the auctions for them say 4wd, they are confused. They also use the word "nitro" which is just dumb.
I would bet that they are as good as smartech or duratrax. Buy one and let us all know.

I wrote asking about 2wd or 4wd..... they wrote me back stating its a 4wd RTR for $650
they were asking $899 the 14th of January.....must have a huge markup on these if they are now selling for $650

Here's one:

I have no doubt that they told you it was 4wd, but they also call it a "nitro" engine.

A neighbor of mine just got a mutilator from hobbytron, not a bad buggy. Performs fine, quality seems totally acceptable. Can't beat it for the price.

its made by Hobby Pro parts are from JHC-888.com they have all the parts in stock. Hobbytron is selling them cheap because they RIPPED THEM OFF from Hobby Pro and JHC. Hobbytron NEVER paid for them and owe JHC 500K in bills for all sorts of stuff including this buggy and the Ford GT's they took delivery of and never paid for. Supporting crooks is what you are doing when you support Hobbytron.
The Hobby Pro buggy is fine VS Modelsport has parts too.

Someone else may even become owner of hobbtron or assume possession of inventory.... if they do it right

FG Supply has them in stock. James Hann JHC-888.com has them in stock they are made by Hobby Pro TQ was a name they were going to use but decided to just stay Hobby Pro.
Hobby Pro and James are going after Hobbytron in court. But they will be in the wind soon I doubt Hobbytron will be online much longer.

RE: is the Mutilator 1/5 Scale RTR any good ?
Fatkid,
Yes I have one, I bought it about 4 months ago. I'm converting it to a MT. It's not bad, you just have to replace the usual items like, Large motor mount, diff casing, exhaust. I mainly bought it to beat on and bash with and experiment with. So far it hasn't been to bad. First thing I had to do was re-adjust all the carb settings to get it to start, which took all of about 3-5 minutes. It come with a cheap, no name TX/RX, so that was replaced first. The servos aren't too bad, they are both 1/4 scale servos. I'm not done hacking at it yet, so I don't have any pics maybe in the next couple of weeks. It is by NO means an FG, MCD, or HPI quality. I would probably say that it's more comparable to the Duratrax version. Just my 2 cents. You can get most parts at the usual supply places like tower, large scale rc, etc, etc. If you know your going to be in LS for the long haul, save some more cash and buy something a bit better. They are all fun, and all have their week spots. When I switched to LS, I didn't look back. The nitros are still sitting on the shelf collecting dust, waiting for my kid to get into the hobby. LOL
