What do you mean cats think they are kids? They know they run the place just like my two dogs do!

That's for sure! i love them dearly but they are a big pain sometimes, especially if they want something.

Is addiction meant to...hurt this good? Wish I had another room in the flat for gadgets - would definitely keep me occupied

That's how i do it is just devote a room to toys and call it good. Makes it nice so you don't have stuff scattered throughout the house and trying to hunt for stuff when you're trying to go play.

RC is the most addictive (legal) activity I have found . I was a mechanic for over 30 years and tools were an addiction ,my fellow gearheads know whay I mean . Restoring muscle cars was my next addiction . Dirt bikes and Quad racing was another addiction . Finally RC became my only addiction and it calls me much harder and more frequently than any of the other "addictions" ever did. After a life altering on the job injury that restricts me physically, no more muscle cars , no more
riding or racing quads or bikes . I don't miss any of the other stuff . If I couldnt RC at all I would lose what little sanity I have remaining . Yes - it is addictive , but also very therapeutic.

I am sure, it's neither a passion, nor a hobby, IT IS ADDICTION.

Made me think of the incident where a famous jazz guitarist had just finished a gig at a private party and was putting up his axe. A wealthy dowager approached him and said, "You're a disgrace. How can you even play when you're this drunk?"

"Easy," he replied. "I practice drunk."

My dogs would be indignant to be considered kids. They believe they run the place and make the rules. They think they are being magnanimous overlooking my failure to take their commands or overlooking their hints at what they want.

We have a hound dog, who sleeps in the bed with us, normally between my feet, a Siamese cat who sleeps on my wife's neck, and a 4 year old son who thankfully sleeps in his bed usually. Between those 3 and lots of RC cars and various other man/boy toys, especially the ones i don't have yet, I get most of the stimulation i need to be happy.

GREAT, NYS heard u. they are considering a law making it illegal to fly a model below 100ft, above 400ft or 5 miles or less from an airport. I wonder where I can hang the license plate?

Thumbs up

You know what is funny/not funny about this, is that I got back into R/C after being out of it for almost a decade..... while in a 3 quarter house... recovering from a substance abuse problem I started as a kid. I've been clean now for over 5 years... and my one car I built in that 3 quarter house now has 9 others to keep it company. I tell people all the time that the hobby is one of the big helps I had during my transitioning time. Because it gave me something to really focus on, outside of myself, and didn't leave me much time to stress over wanting to use. There is a book called "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" that sort of follows that same trajectory of thought. R/C cars give me a break from the larger (pun intended) world out there.

I used to have a bumper sticker on my car

(large lettering)
Caution Driver addicted to Alcohol
(small lettering)
Mixed with Castor oil and Nitromethane

I got some strange looks from people, one asked me what it tasted like; I said " it's not very good"
